From Catania: Piazza Armerina & Caltagirone

The tour offers the opportunity to explore two splendid towns, a representation of the vast artistic and architectural heritage of Sicily. The tour starts in Piazza Armerina at “Villa del Casale,” a stunning palace built between the third and sixth century BC.

It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996, and it is one of the most spectacular sites of its kind. It mimics the perfect combination of the architectural and decorative elements of a typical Roman Forum. After lunch, the tour continues in the ancient town of Caltagirone.

You can visit the impressive Santa Maria del Monte stairs, consisting of 142 majolica-adorned steps, also used as an accessible path to reach the upper and lower parts of the town.
