Pro tips to help you make a pick

Check the official website or contact the museum shortly before your visit, as opening hours can change at short notice.

Plan your visit as a 1-hour stop between larger attractions or a canal walk, rather than as a main event.

Bring reading glasses if you use them—miniature details are best enjoyed up close.

Travel light, as large bags or suitcases may not be allowed and storage options are not documented.

If you rely on a city card, verify in advance whether the museum is included, as coverage can vary.

Keep a maps app handy; central Amsterdam’s canal streets can be confusing and signage may be subtle.

Have a backup plan in case the museum is unexpectedly closed—there are plenty of other small museums and sights nearby.

We loved it because there were different artists on every floor, and the basement was really cool—they played with the lights and colors.

Smooth entry into the museum. We booked a 9am entry and had plenty of room to move leisurely through the exhibits. The museum hosts a variety of Dutch art, furniture, and history. The metamorphasis exhibit was one of my favorites! The gardens are a beautiful place to relax afterward.
