I liked the variety of themed rooms on the history of different cultures. Many exceptional monuments. What I did not like was the little attention of a lady that there was no way to inform the printed guide or self-guide of the museum. She just told me to read a poster in Italian and English that I did not know because I did not know the language. Otherwise nice experience

Skip the queue feature well worth while, saved us more than an hour. The museum is superb. Too much to see in one day. As usual at least one of the displays we wanted to see was under renovation! A necessary hazard if you are to protect such precious artefacts.
    • Step into the Pompeii archaeological site and witness a snapshot of Roman daily life, frozen in time: observe their prayers, love, and demise!

    • Wander through the well-preserved ancient houses of Pompeii such as the House of Faun, and visit one of the oldest surviving Roman amphitheaters.

    • See a vast array of artifacts from ancient Rome, such as the Papyri Collection, erotic art, and Greek frescoes at the Naples National Archaeological Museum.

    • Admire the renowned Farnese Collection, featuring sculptures such as the Farnese Bull and the Farnese Hercules.

    • Fun fact: Pompeii was buried under volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, preserving it remarkably well.

Really amazing collection all houses in an impressive building. I would have appreciated a paper map to help guide our experience.

Magnificent museum, but the paper guide wasn't available, so I had to buy it for 4 people for a non-existent 18 euros... I would have preferred to give it to a needy person...
  • Pompeii

With roots reaching back nearly 2,000 years, Pompeii holds a significant place in both myth and history. Uncovered in 1748 AD following the catastrophic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD, this ancient site stands as a timeless testament to the Campania region's rich heritage, forever preserved by volcanic ash and debris. A visit here promises an immersive journey into the past, where one can explore the remnants of daily life frozen in time.

Spend approximately 4 hours exploring the vast array of attractions, from strolling through the Forum to admiring the Basilica or simply enjoying a moment of tranquility near the amphitheater. Pompeii offers a wealth of treasures to behold, including numerous frescoes, statues, street fountains, public baths, and bustling business buildings, each contributing to a vivid portrayal of the town's former glory.

    Naples Archaeological Museum

For history enthusiasts or those captivated by the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, a visit to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli is a must! Marvel at an exceptional mosaic depicting Alexander the Great's triumph over the Persians, immerse yourself in the beauty of Pompeian wall paintings, and admire classical sculptures such as the Farnese Bull and Atlas. Delve into the museum's most intriguing section, the Secret Cabinet, where a collection of erotic artifacts awaits, gathered from Pompeii's bars, brothels, and homes. From provocative frescoes to an intriguing assortment of phallic lucky charms, this exhibit offers a unique glimpse into ancient Roman sensuality and culture.
