Our tour guide Ingrid was amazing! I took my mom here for her birthday as she was raised riding horses, and answered all our questions and was overall just an amazing guide with a wealth of knowledge!

Unsere Guide war fantastisch u lieferte alle relevanten Antworten auf unsere Fragen. Die Stallungen sind ein Traum - das ganze Ambiente natürlich einzigartig und die Perde und deren Geschichte, was Zucht, Ausbildung u Haltung betrifft, absolut erwähnenswert. Nicht zu vergessen, die interessanten Erklärungen über das Zusammenspiel zwischen den Bereitern und den/ihnen zugewiesenen Pferden, und die Bindung, die sich zwischen Pferd u Reiter über einen langen Zeitraum entwickelt, was ja das A u O ist. Man muss dieser langjährigen, harten Ausbildungen wirklich allen Respekt zollen. Für uns Reiter ist so eine Tour natürlich ein "Muss" u 100%tig weiter zu empfehlen. Danke an das ganze Team für die schöne Führung und die Eindrücke, die begeistert haben.

Mit geistreichen Humor und dem zauberhaften Dialekt der Guide erlebten mein Mann und ich, gestern zum 1. Mal, eine Führung. Sie konnte tatsächlich alle Fragen der Gruppe beantworten und war vom ersten bis zum letzten Moment selbst ein herrliches Erlebnis. Ich hatte schon vorab besonderen Respekt vor dieser Institution, jetzt noch mehr und als Pferdeliebhaberin fand ich es einfach grandios! Die Stunde ging wie im Flug vorbei... Vielen lieben Dank nochmal!

Isabell unser Tourguide hat alles wunderbar erklärt. Wir konnten Fragen stellen, welche Sie mit Kompetenz und Charm beantworten konnte und wir haben die Führung durch die Hofreitschule genossen. Die Stunde ging viel zu schnell vorbei. Aber wir werden wiederkommen und uns beim nächsten Mal, die Arbeit mit den Pferden anschauen. Diese Vorführung war leider schon ausverkauft. Danke! Es war uns eine Freude!

Tolle Führung durch die spanische Hofreitschule. Die jungen Frau, welche uns begeleitet und alles erklärt hat, war sehr sympathisch und wusste viel zu erzählen. Ein tiefer Einblick in die Geschichte und die Gegenwart. Es lohnt sich auf alle Fälle, diese Führung zu machen. Wann hat man sonst einmal die Möglichkeit, den Tieren im Stall so Nahe zu kommen.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided an insight into how the Stallions are bred, trained, determineed to be candidates for inclusion in the performing troup and their retirement. All in all it was a tour that surpassed ouxpectaqtions. This may ber the best buy of all of our travel adventrues in Europe this year.

Step inside a 460-year-old institution on a 55–60 minute guided tour of the Spanish Riding School, exploring its riding halls, stables, and living equestrian traditions.

Getting started

Arrive at the Visitor Centre at least 5 minutes before your tour begins. Exchange your mobile voucher for a physical ticket at the cashier’s desk (available up to 1 hour before start time), then meet your guide for a short introduction.

What to expect

Spanish Riding School

This guided tour takes you behind the scenes of one of Vienna’s most enduring cultural institutions, where classical equitation has been practiced since the 16th century. You’ll explore the architectural spaces that support both daily training and ceremonial performances.

Inside the school

Winter Riding School: Enter the Baroque riding hall and learn how its proportions, symmetry, and light were designed specifically for classical dressage.

Summer Riding School: Visit the training area that houses one of the world’s largest oval horse walkers, offering insight into modern conditioning methods.

Stallburg Imperial Stables: Explore Vienna’s most significant Renaissance building, home to the Lipizzaner stallions for over 460 years.

Equestrian Tradition: Hear how Renaissance-era methods of the Haute École are still followed today, passed down through generations of riders.

What to bring

Mobile voucher to exchange for a physical ticket at the cashier’s desk before the tour.

Comfortable clothing suitable for standing and walking indoors for about an hour.

Children aged 3–6 enter free; ages 6–18 receive a reduced rate.
