Je recommande vraiment de prendre un guide (3h) pour visiter Pompéi cela permet de gagner énormement de temps, de ne pas faire la queue à l'entrée, de ne pas se perdre dans toutes les rues, d'aller directement à l'essentiel et ainsi être sûre de voir le principal, quitte à flaner après et de continuer la visite tranquillement dans la ville. Les détails et anecotes donnés par le guide sont très intéressants, et cela évite de faire la visite le nez dans les livres et autres guides papiers

Paolo (or maybe spelt Paulo) our guide was knowledgeable and genuinely interested in Pompeii, which made it much more enjoyable for us. The audio earpiece made it easy to hear even if we got a little behind or was near the back of the line. He had time for questions and ensured we got the most from our tour, even recommending other parts we should visit that we didn't have the time for in the 2 hours.

La dottoressa Grazia è stata bravissima a coinvolgere nella storia di Pompei. Ho percorso con lei una giornata tipica pompeiana. Secondo me una visita in un posto così immenso ha bisogno di una guida che ti concentra le cose importanti da vedere ti fa notare dettagli che ti sfuggono Io personalmente mi sono desiderato tanto di vedere Pompei e la dottoressa Grazia e stata bravissima. Our guide Antonella is an archaeologist and clearly passionate about Pompeii, sharing insights and information and bringing the whole experience alive. One of the best parts was walking round the raised platform and looking down into homes and businesses. The photo shows a very early 'takeaway' shop which amused us.

What to bring

A valid ID or passport is required for entry.

It’s recommended to wear comfortable shoes as this experience involves a fair amount of walking.

It is recommended to bring sunglasses, sunscreen and water. Flip-flops are not suitable.

Only small dogs on a leash can be brought inside the park. Guide dogs with a certificate are permitted.

What’s not allowed

Flash photography and tripods are allowed in this experience.

This tour is not recommended for travelers with mobility issues or impairments, because of challenging terrain.

The fee for the excavation sites of Pompeii is free for all first Sundays of the month.
