Francesco (I think) was our tour guide for Herculaneum and he was fantastico !! He was funny & friendly & extremely knowledgeable having spent a lot of his youth hanging around Herculaneum in his free time... Herculaneum was a different experience to Pompeii & I would highly recommend visiting it as it is more preserved than Pompeii and has a fantastic museum full of artifacts. Definitely put this on your to do list if you are in the Napoli area !! ☆☆☆☆☆

Luciano, our guide, was brilliant. It is well worth a visit . The site is much smaller than Pompeii and has a lot more shade. Can get a good insight in the 2 hour tour.

Our guided group tour of Herculaneum was fantastic. Roberta, our guide, spoke perfect English, was very knowledgeable and brought this amazing site to life with anecdotes and facts. The site itself was impressive, whilst not as big as Pompei but in my opinion more interesting, with so much preserved: frescos, ornamental decoration, structures, even multiple stories to a building. My one gripe is that the instructions on where to meet the guide included 2 photos (and a dot marking the meeting point) at the main entrance on the road when actually they were waiting for us further in at the ticket barrier (not visible from the road).

The organisation was exemplary. A day of rail disruption meant we had to use a combination of the bus and then a taxi. The company rang as our hour time came close- we could give them our eta and so didn't miss the start. The very best thing about the tour was Roberta our guide. Her tour was delivered at the perfect pace and was so informative - we really enjoyed our tour

Our tour guide was the main archaeologist from the 1980's! His name is Luciano, and he was kind and hilarious! Definitely bring a fan, an umbrella and water, it's very hot in summer, if you have time, stay and explore the park some after the tour, the tour just isn't long enough. But it's amazing to hear the facts from the original digs!

Enter the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum using your priority entry ticket and proceed to the designated meeting point inside the site. Here you meet your expert archaeologist or language guide, in a group of up to 20 people. After a brief introduction to the site and its history, your 2-hour guided tour of Herculaneum begins.

What to expect

This guided tour focuses on the ancient Roman town of Herculaneum, preserved under volcanic material from the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 CE.

Walk through the streets of Herculaneum with your expert English, Spanish, French, German, or Italian-speaking archaeologist guide, who explains how the town functioned before the eruption and how it was preserved.

Use fast-track or skip-the-line entry, as per your selected option, to access the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum and spend your time inside the ruins rather than in the ticket line.

Join a small group of up to 20 people or a standard group of up to 25 people, depending on your chosen option, with headsets provided for groups over 10 people so you can clearly hear the guide’s commentary.

Follow a 2-hour route through key areas of the site as your guide highlights architectural details, everyday objects, and building layouts that reveal how people lived in this coastal town.

At the end of the 2-hour guided visit, your tour concludes inside the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum, leaving you free to stay longer and explore on your own if you wish.
