Greeted at the meeting point by the very happy, cheerful Daniele. He was exceptionally organised and clear with his instructions. We were taken through by our guide, Michele (Michael), he was incredibly knowledgeable, connected with the group, and entertaining. The walk was quite challenging and exhausting, navigating some difficult terrain at times over 3 hours. It’s definitely not a tour for people with mobility issues. However, it was fascinating to explore the site and learning so much history from Michele. I nearly chose to do this tour independently, but following advice from a close friend, I’m glad I chose this option. This is the second tour I’ve booked with Headout and both times I have been nothing less than impressed. I highly recommend using Headout for booking this tour. Exceptional!!

The guide was informative, helpful, fun calm and knew how to make it feel like we were always just going with the flow and learning about pompeii rather than going on an 'organised' tour. The headsets meant you could explore yourself whilst listening to the guide also. Absolutely worth the money and a brilliant place to visit!

Excellent guide - an archeologist with so much knowledge and passion for the Pompei site and its inhabitants. She managed to convey the story with so much added value and interesting insights. 3 hours flew by so fast .

La informació del sitio de encuentro con el guía era incorrecta (de indicaba el centro comercial Piazza Porta Marina, que no es lo mismo que la entrada real al recinto, Porta Marina, a 24 minutos andando una de la otra). El servicio de atención por chat no solucionó el tema. El guía, perfecto.

What to bring

A valid ID or passport is required for entry.

It’s recommended to wear comfortable shoes as this experience involves a fair amount of walking.

It is recommended to bring sunglasses, sunscreen and water. Flip-flops are not suitable.

Only small dogs on a leash can be brought inside the park. Guide dogs with a certificate are permitted.

What’s not allowed

Flash photography and tripods are allowed in this experience.

Accessibility

This tour is not recommended for travelers with mobility issues or impairments, because of challenging terrain.

The fee for the excavation sites of Pompeii is free for all first Sundays of the month.

Facilities: cloakroom.
