I was amazed by the impressive collection of masterpieces at the Albertina Museum in Vienna. However, the exhibition devoted to paper fascinated me the most – it was truly unique, engaging, and deeply inspiring.

Combo tickets give you access to two of the most interesting museums in Europe. The Impressionists collection in Albertina is amazing. I was happy to experience Marina's Abramović retrospective in Albertina Modern too. Just blown away !
  • From palace halls to modern art spaces and a peaceful monastery setting, this combo ticket lets you experience Vienna’s artistic evolution across all three Albertina museums, each offering a unique chapter in the story of European art.

    Getting started

Begin your journey at the Albertina Museum, located right behind Vienna’s State Opera House. The main entrance is at Albertinaplatz, by the equestrian statue of Archduke Albrecht.

If you prefer, you can start at Albertina Modern, just a 10-minute walk away at Karlsplatz 5, or plan a day trip to Albertina Klosterneuburg, set within a historic monastery about 25 minutes from central Vienna by car or train. Your ticket allows flexible entry on different days within one year, so you can explore each at your own pace.

    Where history meets mastery

Step into imperial grandeur at the Albertina Museum, once a Habsburg palace and now home to one of the world’s greatest collections of graphic art. You’ll see Dürer’s famous Young Hare, Michelangelo’s sketches, and masterpieces by Monet, Cézanne, and Picasso, all displayed within lavish state rooms that retain their original 18th-century splendor.

    Vienna's creative edge

Continue your journey at Albertina Modern, a striking contemporary art museum housed in the restored Künstlerhaus. Here, you’ll find works from the Essl and Jablonka Collections, showcasing post-war and contemporary art by Austrian innovators like Maria Lassnig and Arnulf Rainer, alongside international icons like Warhol, Richter, and Baselitz. Each gallery offers a fresh lens on creativity, where bold color, emotion, and experimentation take center stage.

    Art in a monastic setting

Round off your experience at Albertina Klosterneuburg, the newest addition to the Albertina family. Located just outside Vienna, this tranquil venue focuses on abstract and conceptual art created after 1945. Set within the serene grounds of a former monastery, the galleries combine historic architecture with forward-thinking design. Seasonal exhibitions bring rotating highlights from the Albertina Collection, making each visit distinct and memorable.

  • What to bring

    • Keep your confirmation email handy. Your ticket and invoice arrive within one business day and can be shown digitally or printed.

    • Carry only small personal bags. Larger items need to be stored in the free lockers or cloakroom before entering the galleries.

    • If you’re using a discounted ticket, carry a valid ID. Group and partner discounts, such as the Vienna City Card or ICOM, can only be redeemed at the on-site ticket desk.

    What’s not allowed

    • Flash photography, tripods, and selfie sticks are not permitted inside. Some temporary exhibitions may ban photography completely, so check the signs before taking photos.

    • Store large backpacks, umbrellas, and wet coats in the cloakroom to help protect the artworks.

    • Some galleries or rooms may close temporarily for exhibition setup or conservation work; please follow signs or staff directions.

    • Food and drinks are not allowed in the exhibition areas, but you can enjoy refreshments at the on-site café or nearby restaurants.

    Accessibility

    • All three Albertina locations are fully accessible for visitors with limited mobility.

      • Albertina Museum offers elevators and step-free routes connecting all galleries and public areas.

      • Albertina Modern provides elevator access and barrier-free entry to its exhibition spaces on the ground and basement floors at Karlsplatz 5, 1010 Vienna.

      • Albertina Klosterneuburg is wheelchair accessible, with adapted entrances and restrooms near the exhibition areas.

    • Accessible restrooms are available at all three venues near the main exhibition levels or cloakrooms.

    Additional information

    • Combo tickets are valid for one year and give you one-time entry each to Albertina Museum, Albertina Modern, and Albertina Klosterneuburg; you can visit them on different days.

    • Please note that Albertina Klosterneuburg is temporarily closed from November 17 to March 25.

    • The Albertina Museum and Albertina Modern are about a 10-minute walk apart in Vienna’s city center. To reach Albertina Klosterneuburg, take train S40 or R40 from Vienna to Klosterneuburg-Weidling or bus 400 toward Leopoldbrücke; the trip takes around 25 to 30 minutes.

    • Expect short waits at the entrance even with online tickets, especially on weekends and late evenings. For a quieter visit, visit around 9am or mid-afternoon on weekdays.

    • Look out for upcoming exhibitions like Lisette Model (opening October 30, 2025) and Leiko Ikemura (opening November 14, 2025).

    • Seniors, children under 19, young adults aged 19 to 26, and visitors with disabilities must show a valid ID along with their admission ticket at the entrance.

    • Journalists can request complimentary admission in advance by emailing presse@albertina.at.
