Das Castelo de São Jorge hat mir super gefallen – eine wirklich beeindruckende Burg mit toller Atmosphäre und einer fantastischen Aussicht über ganz Lissabon. Besonders die Lage auf dem Hügel macht den Besuch zu einem echten Highlight. Ich habe mein Ticket online gekauft, was absolut problemlos funktioniert hat und mir das Anstehen erspart hat – sehr empfehlenswert, da es oft lange Warteschlangen gibt.

Getting tickets ahead of time saved me approx 45 minutes of waiting. There was a long line I was able to skip and just walk right in with my tickets. The castle offers great views of the city. The audio portion was also helpful to learn about what you were looking at. I'd say try to download that before getting to the castle. 10/10. The walk up is steep. Be sure to take water and wear sneakers.

Purchasing tickets online was incredibly easy and straightforward. We appreciated the no-time limit for exploring and no specific time-slot. The castle compound was immaculately clean and well-maintained. The stunning views from the castle were a highlight and we particularly enjoyed the peacocks in the garden.

There was so much see. The castle and the grounds were very interesting. The historic significance of the city was fascinating. It had some of the best views of Lisbon .

Der Preis ist für eine alte Ruine überteuert. Die Toiletten sind das Letzte, Frauen müssen teilweise 15 Minuten in der Schlange stehen, für ein Toilettenerlebnis, dass auf jeder Autobahnraststätte in Deutschland fünf mal besser ist. Insgesamt eine Enttäuschung. Touri Abzocke. Trotz der hohen Eintrittsgelder, Löcher in den Wegen, Stolperfallen, nicht funktionierende Toilettenspülungen oder fehlendes Toilettenpapier oder Paperhandtücher.

We tried to use tickets so we didn't need to queue, however by the time the tickets arrived we would have been better of queuing. The numbers on the map were not correct and the directions from the exit were wrong (I think it has moved).

After booking, you will receive an email with further instructions on how to access and download your audio tour. Please check your email spam folder as well.

Between March and October, access to wall walks and towers may be closed to the public from 6pm to 9pm for safety reasons. The exact time will vary depending on daylight.

Between November and February, access to the wall walks and towers will close by 5:30pm.

The castle is closed on Jan 1, May 1, Dec 24 and 25.

An Android (version 5.0 and later) or iOS (version 15.0 and later) smartphone is required. The audio tour is not compatible with Windows Phones, iPhone 6/6 Plus or older, iPod Touch 6th generation or older, iPad 4th generation or older, iPad Air 1st generation, iPad Mini 3rd generation or older.

You will need storage space on your phone (100-150 MB).

Download the ticket(s) & audio tour while on Wi-Fi prior to your visit. Mobile signal may be weak at the site(s).
