Our Guide Leo from PLK was very competend. He had a lot of back ground Information and he was able to give us this Information in a very nice and interesting way His english was very good I really enjoyed it

We really enjoyed the DMZ tour and can highly recommend it. Eddie was a fantastic guide – knowledgeable, funny, and genuinely passionate about what he does. He shared a lot of interesting background information and historical context. His stories and sense of humor made the tour both educational and entertaining. We learned a lot and appreciated how he kept the group engaged throughout the day. Thanks, Eddie, for making this such a memorable experience!

Eddie was so knowledgeable, and at the same time with a great sense of humour. I loved everything about it but the most memorable was the UNESCO Heritage stone w the inscription of the song about the loss of loved ones during the war. Also looking into North Korea and seeing real people in the rice fields knowing the conditions they live under. A big thank you to Eddie for sharing all the stories.

The trip was very well organized and everything went smoothly on time. Jason was very friendly and easy to approach and ask questions. Also, him being retired officer offered many personal stories about 2 countries relationship and DMZ. Overall, very satisfied with the trip thanks to our amazing guide.

Getting started

Meet your guide outside Hongik Univ Subway Station (Exit 3) for check-in and ID verification. After a brief introduction, board the group bus for a direct transfer to the DMZ, where your expert guide outlines the day’s schedule and security procedures.

What to expect

DMZ (Demilitarized Zone)

Explore the world’s most fortified border zone, where history and current affairs converge. This guided tour, led by a former military officer, offers rare insights into Korea’s divided past and present.

Features

3rd Infiltration Tunnel: Walk through a tunnel discovered in the 1970s, once intended for covert military access, and learn about its strategic significance from your guide.

Dora or Odusan Observatory: Each morning, the clearest observatory is chosen using live security feeds, giving you the best available view into North Korea’s territory.

Imjingak Park: Visit symbolic sites like the Mangbaedan Altar and a preserved steam locomotive, each representing stories of separation and hope.

Unification Village: Hear firsthand accounts from those who served at the border, offering a unique perspective on daily life near the DMZ.

Guided by a retired military officer: Benefit from real soldiers’ stories and expertise, adding depth to every stop on the route. You will meet a North Korean defector and hear her raw, firsthand escape story, where survival was never guaranteed. Then join a live Q&A to ask anything and get honest answers about life on the other side of the border

What to bring

All participants must bring a valid ID card (passport or Alien Registration Card) to access the DMZ; no access without it.

Wear comfortable walking shoes suitable for uneven terrain.

Bring water and light snacks, as lunch is not included.

Dress appropriately for the weather and for walking both indoors and outdoors.

What’s not allowed

Entry without a valid ID card (passport or ARC) is strictly prohibited.

Large bags, suitcases, and oversized luggage are not allowed on the tour.

Pets are not permitted, except for registered service animals.

Alcohol, drugs, and any form of intoxication are strictly prohibited on the premises.

Photography may be restricted in certain areas as directed by military personnel.

This is a DMZ tour, not a JSA tour; access to the Joint Security Area is not included.

Accessibility

This experience is not wheelchair accessible.

The walking course to the 3rd Tunnel and other DMZ sites may involve stairs, uneven surfaces, and steep inclines.

Additional information

The tour operates every day except Mondays and public holidays.

Group tour buses depart at 08:00 AM from Myeongdong Subway Station (Exit #8) and 08:30 AM from Hongik Univ. Subway Station (Exit #3). Please arrive at least 10 minutes before departure; no refunds or changes for late arrivals.

Infants under 24 months are free of charge but must sit on a parent’s lap; please inform the operator in advance.

The itinerary and stop durations inside the DMZ are subject to military control and may change due to weather, security, or operational issues. Alternative courses may be offered with no refunds.

Full refund available if canceled at least 24 hours before departure.

Travel insurance is not included; it is recommended to arrange your own coverage.
