At first apprehensive, I mustered the strength to travel alone via train from Lisbon to Sintra. By the end of the day, I made a new friend that I met in the Initiation Well in Quinta de Regaleiira! A truly enchanted place indeed! The lush nature and fantasy-like castle was breathtaking after being in the city-life of Lisbon. Pena Palace was also stunning, I enjoyed the view of the Atlantic Ocean, the city below, and the fresh air from the Queen's Terrace. I rode tuk tuks and walked, enjoying the fresh air. I wandered around the Seteais Palace and saw a hedge maze! I had pastry and croissant in the city center, then shared a taxi to Cascais with my new soul sister! We rode back to Lisbon together. This is a must do experience, I would like to do it again, with no phone (and add the Monserrate Palace & Park)! I felt like Queen for a day, mi castle, tu castle!!! Highly recommend and would so again!

Es un lugar muy bonito y totalmente recomendable. Vale la pena conocerlo y disfrutar de sus paisajes y monumentos. Eso sí, se camina bastante, por lo que es fundamental llevar calzado cómodo. Mi recomendación es subir hasta el lugar en autobús, especialmente porque el camino tiene bastante pendiente. Si subes caminando, probablemente llegarás más cansado y gastarás energía que necesitarás para recorrer después Quinta da Regaleira, donde también hay mucho que caminar. ⚠️ Un consejo muy importante: lleva las entradas compradas con antelación. No recomiendo ir a comprarlas directamente en el lugar, ya que puede que no haya disponibilidad para ese día y corras el riesgo de perder la visita. Planificar y reservar previamente te permitirá aprovechar mucho mejor el tiempo.

Quinta de Regaleira was one of the highlights of my trip! The estate is absolutely stunning, with beautiful gardens, hidden pathways, mysterious tunnels, and incredible architecture around every corner. The Initiation Well was especially amazing and something I had never experienced before. Exploring the underground tunnels and discovering all the hidden features throughout the property made the visit feel like a real adventure. There is so much to see and explore, so I would definitely recommend allowing plenty of time rather than rushing through. The combination of history, architecture, nature, and mystery makes Quinta de Regaleira a truly unique place.

This place is absolutely stunning. We made our way to the famous well straight away which already had long queues but it's the standout attraction for this area. A couple of things to note; the staff are very strict on the tour times so you can only enter 15mins before your booking time with one hours grace after. Also, a taxi can't take you straight to the area so you will have to walk from the centre of Sintra (10-15min walk uphill). However, it's definitely worth visiting with lots of opportunities to take stunning photos.

O Castelo dos Mouros é uma fortaleza militar construída pelos mouros na época de sua dominação de Portugal. Ele hoje é decorado com todas as bandeiras que Portugal já teve, o que achei um toque muito especial. É o ponto mais ao norte que tem na cidade, e a vista lá de cima é espetacular, não há vista melhor de Sintra do que a do castelo. No entanto, esteja preparado para subir muitas escadas, vá de tênis e roupa confortável.

Pude comprar las entradas de un día para otro. En un mensaje me dijisteis que en dos horas tendría las entradas digitales y pasó toda la noche. Os mandé correo y enseguida solucionasteis. En el lugar físico no quedaban entradas para ese día así que muy contenta. El lugar nos gustó mucho y pasamos varias horas conectadas con la naturaleza y divirtiéndonos de lo lindo. Para repetir. Gracias!

Questo è un luogho veramente suggestivo, tanto che a distanza di 1 settimana dalla visita ho sognato un posto magico dove una sirena nuotava tra torri coperte da muschio in mezzo alle montagne... merita una visita, Luogho unico, troppo sconosciuto rispetto a quella che è la sua bellezza. Consiglio di visitarlo di mattina presto per trovare un po'meno gente🍀🐌🐞🌼🌲

Está muy bien pero es cierto que ha perdido algo del encanto que tenía hace años cuando había menos gente. El pozo iniciático tenía más misterio tanto en su entrada como más pasadizos que llegaban a él. Todo eso lo han quitado ahora me imagino por la masificación de gente. Además ahora está muchísimo más caro que antes. No obstante está muy bien y es una buena experiencia. Merece la pena.

Une très belle expérience avec Headout ! La réservation était simple, rapide et parfaitement organisée. Tout était clair dès le départ et l’accès à la Quinta da Regaleira s’est déroulé sans difficulté. Nous avons vraiment apprécié cette visite et garderons un excellent souvenir de ce magnifique endroit. Une expérience que nous recommandons sans hésitation !

Everything went smoothly from entry to exploring the Moorish Castle. It wasn’t overly crowded during our visit, so there was plenty of space to walk around, explore at our own pace, and enjoy the views without feeling rushed. The whole experience was easy and well organized. Definitely worth visiting while in Sintra!

What to expect

Moorish Castle

Built in the 8th century and soon taken over by the Christians after the fall of Lisbon in 1147, every aspect of the Moorish Castle speaks of its centuries-long history. From its most prominent feature, the castle walls, to the watchtower, the museum, and the interpretation centre, the Moorish Castle has a lot to offer.

Second Ring of Walls: Take in the second line of walls built around the castle by the Knights Templar after its capture by Afonso Henriques.

Silos: Crater-like pits that were used to store crops and harvest, you must explore how these essentials were stored at the castle for extended durations.

Church of São Pedro de Canaferrim: Explore this church built following the conquest of the Moors. and take a close look at its stone masonry and Gothic paintings.

Quinta da Regaleira

Blending multiple architectural styles, this estate is among the highlights of Sintra, with stunning interiors nestled amidst a garden that features fountains, grottoes, lakes, and benches.

Palace exteriors: Soak in the Quinta da Regaleira’s interiors that seamlessly blend Renaissance, Egyptian, Manueline, and Gothic styles in perfect symphony.

Quinta da Regaleira

Most places are wheelchair accessible via ramps and elevators, but the palace’s historic nature can make some areas hard to access.
