From Palma: Hams' Caves & Porto Cristo Half-Day Trip

Half a day from Palma covers more than it sounds — Hams' Caves, Porto Cristo, and a pearl shop visit, with an English-speaking guide and round-trip transfers handling everything in between.

Getting started

The tour begins at Camino Escollera in Palma. Arrive 10 minutes early if joining directly from there. If you are staying in Calvià or Arenal, complimentary pickup is available — your booking confirmation will include your nearest pickup point, usually within a 10-minute walk. Once on board, your guide accompanies the group for the full half-day.

What to expect

• Coach transfer — Palma to Hams' Caves: Travel across the island by bus toward Mallorca's east coast, with your guide setting up the day ahead during the journey.

• Hams' Caves: One of Mallorca's best-preserved underground attractions, with a guided route covering more than 500 metres through cave chambers filled with stalactites, stalagmites, and natural aquifers shaped over millions of years. A handrail is available throughout the route. Cave temperature stays consistently between 18°C and 20°C regardless of the weather outside. Flash photography and prams are not permitted inside the caves, and rock formations must not be touched.

• Sea of Venice: The most memorable section of the cave visit — an underground lake known as the Sea of Venice, where light and colour effects add a theatrical dimension to the natural formations. The highlight of the cave tour for most visitors.

• Porto Cristo: After the caves, continue to Porto Cristo — a small fishing village with a natural harbour and sandy beaches. Free time here to walk the waterfront, stop for lunch, or go for a swim if the timing works.

• Historic pearl shop: The half-day ends with a visit to a Mallorcan pearl shop with over a century of experience producing the island's well-known organic artificial pearls.

Wrapping up

Board the bus back to Palma after the pearl shop visit. Return is earlier than the full-day tour, leaving your afternoon free. If you selected pickup from Calvià or Arenal, your return transfer follows the same arrangement.
