Hot Air Balloon Rides in Cappadocia

One of the most important things to do in Capadocia. Our guide and pilot, Söyler, made sure that we will remember with pleasure our trip. Really a professional guide and pilot. The take off and landing was so smooth you feel like you are on a feather. He told us small history about the places we saw from balloon. The experience was amazing.

Fantastic Experience Definitely highly recommended and worth doing again. It all started with a transfer that was incredibly punctual, taking us to the breakfast venue where, in a very organized manner, we were served a buffet breakfast with everything you could ask for. We were then taken to the takeoff site, and once we were helped onboard, we received a safety briefing... We were definitely very lucky to have one of the best pilots, who took off with us first in a very smooth and comfortable manner, and who later explained everything very clearly. Perfect landing and refreshments after the flight, complete with a medal, where you can purchase the flight video. Derinkuyu blew my mind. We visited with a guide who explained how people used to hide here for months—whole families, animals, food, everything. There are these massive stone doors for defense and little holes in the walls for passing food (or so the guide said). I’m 6’1 and kept banging my head, so watch out. The stairs are steep and super narrow. Not ideal for anyone with mobility probs. But the whole thing is just EPIC.

Went solo, and was a bit nervous about the tight spaces but made it! The tunnels are narrow AF, sometimes had to walk sideways lol. It’s chilly down there too, so bring a sweater even if it’s hot outside. A bit of a workout getting out, so not for everyone. The place gets busy, especially with tour groups, but the vibe is unique. Would be nice if there were more info panels though.

This was my highlight in Cappadocia! I went solo, wandered around for almost three hours just looking at all the little chapels. Some of them are tiny and you squeeze in with a few other people, but that made it feel kinda special. Staff was chill but strict about no pics inside (I saw someone get told off for sneaking a phone shot). Bring good shoes, the ground is bumpy.

We went in the afternoon and the crowds were pretty intense, especially tour groups. But the churches carved into the rock are really unique. My kids liked pretending to be explorers. There’s a little café at the entrance—coffee was meh but the view was lovely.
