    What to expect

    • Begin at Sakurada Tatsumi Yagura, one of the few surviving Edo-period watchtowers, offering panoramic views across the moat and surrounding castle grounds.

    • Pass through the impressive Ōte-mon Gate, once the main entrance to Edo Castle, and learn about its ingenious defensive design and importance during the Tokugawa era.

    • Continue to the Hyakunin Bansho Guardhouse, where elite samurai once protected the castle, surrounded by towering stone walls and historic guardhouses.

    • Visit Fujimi-yagura, the castle's only remaining three-story turret, before stopping at the Honmaru Goten Rest House to view a detailed scale model of Edo Castle's former main keep.

    • Climb to the Edo Castle Ruins, where the massive stone foundation of Japan's tallest historic castle tower now offers sweeping views across central Tokyo and the nearby Nippon Budokan.

    • Conclude your walk in the tranquil Ninomaru Garden, a beautifully restored Japanese landscape featuring koi ponds, seasonal flowers, elegant bridges, and carefully designed strolling paths.

    • The meeting point is Wadakura Fountain Park, located at 3-1 Kōkyogaien, Chiyoda City, Tokyo 100-0002, Japan; staff will be waiting in front of the fountain with a sign board showing 'gotcha'.

    • The meeting point is a 3-minute walk from Tokyo metro Otemachi station exit D2 or a 10-minute walk from Tokyo station Marunouchi central exit.

    • The tour ends back at the meeting point.

    • Infants must sit on laps during the tour.
