Your Experience

Introduction to the Marine Wildlife

Start your experience at the Marina of Vila Franca do Campo and check in for your exhilarating and thrilling tour on the island of the Azores. Check your equipment and head to a short briefing where you will be introduced to local species, and responsible practices for the activity, onboard safety, and the use of snorkeling equipment. After your introductory session, follow your guide and the skipper to your designated boat and venture out to the sea!

Swim and Snorkel

As you go out on the sea, your lookout high inland will locate your friendly, underwater friends, and will provide you with directions via VHF Radio to where your boat will travel, initially at high speed, so hold on and enjoy the ride! As you approach your friends slowly, your guide will evaluate if favorable conditions are present to allow you to proceed further. Be prepared to enter the water in pairs as you will alternate in the water during limited periods of time. You don’t want to miss out on this opportunity as the dolphins will definitely come closer to you out of curiosity and also friendliness! Keep a look out for the common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, and Risso's dolphins while you're waddling in the water. After your relaxing time with the dolphins, travel to a coastal location for snorkeling as you discover the characteristic marine flora and fauna present in the island’s sea bottom.

Important Information

Bring along your water bottle, change of clothes, towel, chapstick, light food, and your underwater camera.
Please carry any protective equipment required for your electronic items and keep it fastened securely.
It is recommended to eat lightly before this tour. You can also carry some light food onboard.

The experience is not accessible for children aged 4 and under, wheelchair users, pram/stroller users, people with mobility issues, or people with back and neck problems.
