First up is Karuizawa, a premier resort destination popular among the crème de la crème of society. As you explore, hear about the former Emperor Akihito who met his significant other in this beautiful town.

You have some free time to admire the captivating Hoshino Resorts area and tranquil the Kumoba Pond/Swan Lake. If you are inclined towards shopping, visit the Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza that offers over 200 international and Japanese brands. A highlight of the day is the Karuizawa Kogen Church, a specimen of simple yet elegant wooden architecture and a coveted wedding venue.

Hot spring experience and Edo-period charm

The trip continues on towards Hoshino Onsen, a hot spring known for its “beauty skin” waters. Take the opportunity to rejuvenate yourself (price excluded). An open-air bath or an indoor bath with expansive glass windows lets you soak in both the water and the mountain views.

Your final destination is Kawagoe, often referred to as “Little Edo” due to the well-preserved architecture and atmosphere from the Edo period (1603 to 1868). Imagine Japan of the past as you see Showa-style alleyways and visit the sacred site of the 1,500 years old Hikawa shrine. A short distance away from the Edo-style warehouse district, you’ll find the "Toki no Kane", a 4th reconstruction of a bell tower built 400 years ago. The trip ends on a sweet note at Kashiya Yokocho or Candy Alley, lined with stores selling traditional Japanese sweets.
