    Getting started

    Meet your guide at the designated meeting point, where your reserved seat ticket will be handed to you. Exact directions to the meeting point are shared one week before your tour date.

    What to expect

    • Ryogoku Kokugikan: The spiritual home of sumo, Ryogoku Kokugikan is Japan's premier sumo arena and the venue for three of the six official Grand Sumo Tournaments held each year.

    • Private English-speaking guide: Your guide stays with your group exclusively throughout, explaining sumo rankings, pre-bout rituals, and the stories behind the wrestlers as the matches unfold.

    • Reserved seating: Choose between S-class or A-class seats, both positioned closer to the ring for an unobstructed view of the action from the lower-division bouts through to the afternoon championship matches.

    • Audio headset: Included to ensure you catch every word of your guide's commentary clearly, even as the arena fills and the atmosphere builds.

    • Sumo pamphlet and banzuke-hyo: The official wrestler ranking table and sumo info pamphlet give you the full picture of who is competing and what is at stake before the first bout begins.

  • What's not allowed

    • Outside food and drinks are not permitted inside the arena. Food is available for purchase from vendors within.

    Accessibility

    • Wheelchair storage is available on the first floor, but seats are on the second floor. Guests must be able to climb stairs independently or with help from a travel companion.

    • Strollers are welcome. Infants aged 1 to 3 are free of charge as long as they do not occupy a seat and sit on a parent's lap.

    Additional information

    • There may be a short wait before seating, as entry is permitted only after all ongoing sumo matches have concluded.

    • The meeting point and directions will be shared by email at least one week before your tour date.

    • Your voucher will be emailed to you shortly.
