Since we were based in Shinjuku, we figured this tour was a good chance to try a bunch of different street foods and get a bit more insight on the area. Even though we got there late, the guide still helped us out by keeping in touch so we could catch up easily. The pace was relaxed and matched what the description said. The guide mixed in cool facts about food traditions and had some good jokes too. He also seemed to really know Shinjuku since he goes there a lot, so it felt more personal. If you’re interested in the vibe described, it’s a solid pick. Just a heads up, Golden Gai isn’t exactly “unique atmosphere”—it’s more rough-around-the-edges, and the bar scene can feel sketchy, but nothing ever felt unsafe.

I joined this tour solo, hoping to get deeper into Tokyo's food scene than I could on my own, and I was genuinely impressed. We visited four different eateries, each offering something distinct—crunchy kushikatsu at one, unbelievably fresh sushi at another, and some gyoza that I'll probably dream about for weeks. The guide clearly knew the area and its culinary history, mixing tidbits about Shinjuku’s nightlife with advice on how to eat each dish. I also appreciated how the group included both solo travelers like me and couples, so it felt social without being forced. Only thing I’d improve is the noise level in one izakaya, but that’s just Tokyo! Overall, a great food-forward night out.

Our family absolutely loved this food tour! We got to taste everything from sushi to gyoza, and it really was enough for a big meal. The guide made each stop interesting with cool facts about Shinjuku's nightlife and Japanese dining traditions, which kept everyone, even our teens, engaged. There was a nice variety of dishes—loved the kushikatsu especially. As a group, we felt very welcome, and it was easy to chat with other travelers. Only thing is, I wish the tour moved a bit slower at times so we could savor each stop longer, but overall, it's a great pick for groups wanting a foodie adventure with a bit of Tokyo history thrown in!

I went on this tour on my first night in Tokyo and it was the perfect intro to the city’s food culture! Our guide navigated us through four distinct eateries, each offering something different—fresh sushi, savory dumplings, and even deep-fried treats I’d never tried before. The stories behind the recipes and places were fascinating. Sake with new friends was a highlight. I do wish we had a little more time to poke around the nightlife afterwards, but the group atmosphere made it lively. Definitely recommended for anyone wanting more than just a meal.

As a foodie couple visiting Japan for the first time, we wanted to get a real sense of what locals eat. This Shinjuku tour fit the bill perfectly. Our host was friendly and full of cool trivia about each dish and the area itself. We tasted everything from gyoza to kushikatsu and sampled two types of sake. The walk between eateries gave a good glimpse of Tokyo after dark, too. Some of the venues were a tad cramped, but that felt pretty authentic. Highly recommend if you want to try lots of food in one night.
