Experience two contrasting sides of Tokyo in one guided tour, from the futuristic world of teamLab Borderless to the historic grounds of the Imperial Palace and former Edo Castle.

Getting started

Meet your local guide at Azabudai Hills, home to teamLab Borderless, and begin your experience with admission to the immersive digital art museum. You’ll have a guaranteed 1.5 hours to explore its mapless world before continuing towards central Tokyo. Transportation between the two locations is not included, so you’ll travel by subway or taxi at your own expense.

What to expect

• Your experience begins inside teamLab Borderless, where digital artworks move beyond traditional boundaries and flow from one space into another. Explore installations such as the Light Sculpture series and Infinite Crystal World, becoming part of the ever-changing artwork around you.

• After your time at the museum, make your way towards the Imperial Palace area. The contrast between cutting-edge digital art and centuries of Japanese history sets the stage for the next part of your tour.

• Meet your guide at the Imperial Palace and discover its connection to Edo Castle, once the seat of the powerful Samurai Shoguns. At Nijubashi Bridge, take in one of Tokyo’s most recognizable palace views while learning about the area’s imperial history.

• Continue into the East Gardens, where remnants of the former Edo Castle reveal Tokyo’s samurai past. Walk alongside enormous stone walls, visit the ruins of the castle’s main keep at Tenshudai, and enjoy the peaceful landscapes of the traditional Ninomaru Garden.

As your guided tour comes to an end around the Otemachi and Tokyo Station area, you’ll have experienced two very different sides of the capital. On Mondays and Fridays, when the East Gardens are closed, the route instead covers the Outer Gardens, Nijubashi Bridge, and Sakuradamon Gate area.
