    First and foremost, I want to make it clear that Headout’s service was absolutely spot-on. What I found lacking, however, was the Dervish performance, which, in my opinion, was of very mediocre quality. It didn’t come across as a spiritual practice, nor was it a performance of any real quality. Everything was lacking—the quality of the music, the number of participants, the refreshments offered (a 1.5-liter bottle to be shared among the audience)—and taken as a whole, it gave me the impression of a tourist money-making scheme rather than a ceremony or demonstration of this discipline. There was no explanation whatsoever, and the organizers’ main concern seemed to be cramming as many tourists as possible into a decidedly shabby hall.
