An amazing climb up to the dome and an up-close walkway by the dome's frescoes at a dizzying height, with views of the cathedral hall and the frescoes themselves. From there, you head out onto the top of the dome, where a breathtaking panorama of Florence opens up. The view is mesmerizing and stunning—the entire city of Florence stretches out right before your eyes.

I loved the place, plus it was very easy and super clear. We met up with the person who had the tickets, and in 10 seconds they handed everything over and explained how to get in; we were even able to enter the Duomo a few minutes ahead of schedule.

The tour was interesting and packed with facts. The guide's commentary began right from the meeting point and lasted 1.5 hours. We were allowed to go up to the top of the dome on our own, and we got there just as visiting hours for individual visitors had apparently ended, because at one point there were only a few of us up there. On the way back down under the dome, I was completely alone and could take my time taking everything in. All in all, it was that rare occasion when you got even more than you expected.

The ticket grants fast-track entry (with a maximum 15-minute wait) to the dome—offering a fantastic view of the city and, above all, a chance to view the painting inside—as well as quick, hassle-free access to other monuments. Our guide Aurora, not sure I've spelt correctly, was fantastic. So knowledgable, friendly and funny. The tour was amazing and well timed and paced. The area beautiful and the Cupola was stunning as was the view from the top! Worth the climb. It was paved out into segments. So we didn't do all 463 steps in one go. But at the end you probably do 260, and I was puffed out at a fairly fit 51 year old. But it was worth it.
