Getting started
Your journey begins at the Premiant Tours Office, located at Na Příkopě 23, Prague 1. Please arrive by 10am to start your trip promptly. From here, you’ll travel approximately 60 kilometers to the infamous Terezin camp, a drive of about one hour that offers glimpses of Prague’s beautiful countryside along the way.
Visit to the Ghetto Museum
The tour starts with a visit to the Ghetto Museum, an emotionally powerful exhibition detailing World War II and its devastating impact on the Jewish community. Here, you’ll see the famous Children’s Drawings, a poignant collage created by imprisoned children, as well as a rare surviving propaganda film shown to Red Cross delegates during the war.
Exploring the Magdeburg Barracks
Next, you’ll explore the Magdeburg Barracks, once home to the military garrison of the fortress. Known as the Seat of the Council of Elders, the barracks contain replicas of the cramped dormitories where prisoners lived. You’ll visit the Jewish Prayer Room, revealing the limited tolerance Nazis allowed, and the Columbarium and Ceremonial Halls, built to create a false image of peace among the camp’s Jewish population. The tour also includes the GESTAPO prison cells and the SS camp headquarters, providing a stark view of the harsh realities faced by prisoners.
Life inside the camp
Walk through the barracks where hundreds of prisoners were confined to tiny rooms furnished only with beds, benches, and tables. The overcrowded and vile living conditions give a powerful glimpse into the suffering endured by those imprisoned at Terezín.
Reflecting on Terezín’s dark history
Terezín Concentration Camp is a haunting reminder of the atrocities committed during World War II. Imagine the plight of the 33,000 prisoners who faced disease, torture, starvation, and despair. The echoes of their cries still seem to resonate within the camp’s walls. This tour serves as a tribute to their memory and a solemn reminder to honor their suffering by working towards peace.
Return to Prague
After the tour ends, you will be transported back to the original meeting point at Na Příkopě 23 in Prague 1.
