I've been to Chicago my entire life growing and this was the first time we did a cruise! It was amazing and I loved the history lesson!! This is a must do when in Chicago

I was looking for a fun way to learn more about my city, and this architectural river tour delivered! It was packed with interesting information about Chicago’s buildings and history. However, I wish the guide had spoken a little more slowly so I could take it all in. Some passengers around me were also talking loudly, which made it difficult to hear and stay focused. Overall, it was an informative experience, but a slower pace and a quieter atmosphere would have made it more enjoyable.

Taking my mother from India on the Chicago Architecture Cruise was one of the sweetest memories we made during her visit. We booked the cruise through an amazing Headout offer, and we’re so grateful for the opportunity. A special thank you to Headout for making this experience so accessible and worthwhile, and to Shoreline Sightseeing for such a wonderful cruise. Our tour guide, Eric, was absolutely fantastic! He explained Chicago’s architecture and history with so much passion and made everyone feel comfortable, welcomed, and engaged. His storytelling made the buildings come alive, and seeing my mother amazed by the beautiful Chicago skyline made the experience even more emotional and special. This was more than just a tour—it became a beautiful memory I’ll always cherish with my mom. Thank you, Headout, Shoreline, and Eric!

One of the highlights of my visit to Chicago was the Chicago Architecture River Cruise by Shoreline. The 90-minute guided tour offered a unique perspective of the city's world-renowned skyline while cruising through all three branches of the Chicago River. The guide provided fascinating insights into the history, design, and engineering behind some of Chicago's most iconic buildings, including the Willis Tower, Marina City, and the Wrigley Building. The combination of stunning views, engaging storytelling, and Chicago's rich architectural heritage made this experience both educational and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this cruise to anyone visiting Chicago, whether for the first time or as a returning traveler.

Nathan was great. It eas a beautiful night for a tour and I learned a ton.

What to bring

Light layers or sun/rain protection, especially for boats with open upper decks.

Outside food and beverages are not permitted on board.

Motorized or oversized wheelchairs are not allowed on most ramps and boats.

Architecture River Tour dock at Navy Pier is wheelchair accessible (for narrow-base wheelchairs only).

Michigan Avenue dock is not wheelchair accessible.

Some boats have restrooms on lower decks that are not accessible due to lack of elevators.

Upper decks are open-air with minimal weather protection.

Life jackets are available but will only be distributed in an emergency.
