The ferry trip was exciting but the real highlight was the tour itself on Robben Island. For those of us who had heard of the troubles, Apartheid and the release of Nelson Mandela, to have a guide who had firsthand experience of being incarcerated at the age of 16 was incredible, extremely moving and really helped one to understand what many went through during that time. Not, of course, to really comprehend the difficulties nor the treatment those incarcerated had to endure for so long. No one ever will but at least change happened but sadly the world is still suffering today in many ways .

Coming from Australia I found the tour, the content and delivery of information significant. We do not have any such informed and consistent truth telling experiences in Australia. We could have - but the nation has chosen otherwise. I am very grateful for the experience of the Robben Island tour - for learning and for the gentle strength through which the tour guides and staff delivered this experience. Very highly recommend it. Lovely pick up and Capetown knowledge tour bu Ejide, lovely man. Boat trip over to Robben Island, very informative bus tour by a great passionate guide. Prison tour after by an ex inmate of 8 years, amazing experience, must see tour. Thank you all very much.

The information shared by our guide Max... almost made me cry and left me feeling so very ashamed of how the prisoners were treated. I am from Canada, so far away but so angry to think about this kind of treatment in my lifetime.

The tour was fantastic, however this company did not tell us that the tour was cancelled so when we turned up to board the boat we had to reschedule the next day - book direct not through Headout

The tour guides were great and the ocean ride was exhilerating! Oh what an experience. I would love to do it again and again! If you are voming to Cape town. This is not to miss!

Ik vond de tour geweldig en was zeer onder de indruk van de verhalen van ex- gedetineerden. Die raakte mijn ziel tot het diepste. Ik snap alleen niet waarom headout de dubbele ticketprijs rekent (R1200) terwijl op de site van Robbenisland zelf deze R600 is. Verschil in de reis met de ferry en de tour over het island was er niet.
