CoupleVerified booking2 days ago5/5Headout was an excellent organizer. Before arriving, the app provides very timely and specific recommendations, which is great when visiting crowded spots like the Colosseum. When purchasing tickets, the process was crystal clear and the guidance received was the best. A phenomenal experience. Once you enter the Colosseum, you are truly transported back in time, feeling as if you were living through the era of Nero and his spectacles.JJoana C
CoupleVerified booking2 weeks ago4/5We went first thing in the morning to pick up the tickets and didn't wait in line much; the only issue was that the line to enter Palatine Hill was huge, even though we already had tickets. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the way we were treated by a female employee at the Mamertine Prison; she speaks very rudely to everyone. Both times we went, the treatment was horrible (first to pick up the tickets and then to see the site). Thankfully, her coworker was very kind; other than that, everything was great.FFrank S
CoupleVerified booking2 weeks ago4/5Beautiful monuments and must-sees. However, two remarks: it wasn't clear to us that we had to be at the Colosseum at 4:00 PM, but beforehand had to pick up the tickets with the QR code a 25-minute walk from the Colosseum. And that we had to show ID there. Luckily, everyone had theirs with them. Also, that we were allowed 4 hours inside, but it closed at 6:30 PM and our entry was at 4:00 PM. So we did the rest the next day.MMichael H
CoupleVerified booking3 weeks ago5/5Thanks to our special tickets, we were able to enter the Colosseum quickly, but it was unbearably crowded and annoying. Too many people and too many groups. People constantly stopped right in front of you to take a photo. Still, the historical impression was wonderful. Highly recommended.LLaura A
GroupVerified booking2 weeks ago5/5Very good. We went to the Colosseum and got in with no problems at all. The only issue was that the audio guide was tricky—there was poor communication, and we couldn't connect through the apps they gave us. Even so, we were able to comfortably enter the Colosseum one day, and then within 24 hours (the very next day) visit the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.
Rome through memory lane
Rome, the capital city of Italy, is said to have been founded in 753 BC. Within its magnificent structures lie chronicles of powerful history. Learn how art, economy, architecture, power, and public policy were dealt with in this past civilisation.
A tablet guide will help you explore the Mamertine Prison (also known as the Carcer Tullianum museum) and understand its gruesome past as a maximum security prison where enemies of Rome were incarcerated, usually when awaiting execution. The Colosseum is no less intimidating. This oval amphitheater, the largest in the world, has witnessed a lot of dramatic showdowns and barbaric bloodshed under Imperial Rome.
Ancient metropolitans
The Roman Forum was the site of important political, religious, social, and economic activities of the city - from elections, trials, gatherings, and trade. It now contains a museum where you can learn more about its history. The Forum, following the path of many urban developments of ancient Rome, fell into decay after the fall of the Roman Empire until it became pasture land. In the Middle Ages it was looted for its stone and marble. The area has been systematically excavated over the past 200 years, and what you will walk through are well-preserved ruins with a long story to tell.
South of the Forum and 51 meters above sea level stands Palatine Hill, the “first nucleus of the Roman Empire''. This plateau has an intricate terrain and scenic lookout, with ornamentally designed vegetation and layers of multistoried buildings. Visiting these monuments will ensure you leave the city with a deeper appreciation for the grit of ancient humans. Don’t miss out on them on your trip to Rome.
