Did you know?

It is the largest castle in the Loire Valley, with over 440 rooms, 365 fireplaces, and 84 staircases.

It is the largest enclosed park in Europe, encircled by a 32-kilometer (20 miles) wall.

It was rarely used as a royal residence—it was more to show off the king's royal power.

Leonardo da Vinci's influence is still debated.

The castle survived the French Revolution and World War II—it was deemed a national property.

Fairy tale Chateau and setting. The gardens are lovely, particularly Diane's garden. My favorite though were the working gardens with veg, herbs, and evidence of what it might have been like in the days of the king.

Very warm welcome and well-organized—one line for pre-purchased tickets and one line for buying tickets on-site The tour route is clearly marked, the castle is stunning, and the garden is magnificent We had coffee on the terrace with a direct view of the castle; we felt like royalty 👑 The gift shop is great 👍 The exit leads directly to the village, which is also very beautiful; it’s a pleasant place to be, and restaurant prices are reasonable We highly recommend this place

The staff at the entrance are very friendly. Be prepared to climb a few steps, but the view from the city walls is absolutely stunning. Inside, the tapestry room is extraordinary, with scenes and symbols worth examining in detail—ideally with a guide who can provide explanations. There’s also a small courtyard with a spot that serves excellent, refreshing handmade juices and much more.
