Porta d’accesso (Main Gate)
The main entrance, known as the Porta d’accesso, is located at the end of Via Tito Angelini, right next to the Certosa di San Martino. Look for the imposing stone gateway with Charles V’s imperial crest above. This entrance is step-free from the street, but interior access involves steep ramps and cobblestone paths. Wheelchair users and those with strollers may find some areas challenging, especially the ramparts and upper terraces. The ticket office and information desk are just inside the main gate.
Regular Hours: Open daily (except Tuesdays) from 8:30am to 7:30pm.
Last Entry: Final admission is at 6:30pm.
Museum Hours: The Museo del Novecento inside the castle usually closes 1 hour before the fortress—plan to visit the museum first if arriving late in the day.
Special Closures: Closed every Tuesday, January 1, and December 25.
Holiday Hours: Hours may vary on public holidays and during special events—always check the official website before your visit.
