Must do tour! We were fortune enough to get a tour guide from the Basilica who was extremely knowledgeable on not only the Basilica, but also the history and meaning leading to its creation! Just Wow! Please note that you still will have long lines for entry even with skip the line option, for understandable security measures. Once you see this place, you will wonder why it's not more highly guarded. Also tour meeting points / guides need to be better about wearing what they say they will be wearing, and meeting when they say they will. If we are required to be there a half hour early, they should be also, as well as standing out /wearing colors as described!

The tour of Castel Sant'Angelo was really interesting. Our tour guide, Simone, was also really great. Unfortunately, a thunderstorm rolled in during the tour, so the view from the top was a bit hazy. What was really a shame, though, were the other people in our group. They showed absolutely no interest in the tour, so Simone had a really hard time keeping the mood up. How can you go on a tour when you don’t actually want to be there? It was a real shame for the rest of the group.

We had an incredibly knowledgeable guide who made the experience a memorable moment for the whole family. We had visited the church before without our children, but without a guide. Having an English-speaking guide made the visit a completely different experience for both adults and children. We came away not only with new knowledge, but also with a very enjoyable time.

Our guide Eduardo was excellent. Very knowledgeable. I didn't tell him but I am a professor of theology and history and am delighted to say that I learned a great deal from him. He was friendly and very professional. He put such energy into the tour. We were suprised and delighted. We will strongly recommend this tour to the many people we know.

Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. He took good care of all of us and made sure we had the best tour possible, managing the lines outside and at security to ensure everything went as smoothly as possible. The tour was well-organized, and he was a skilled storyteller, which kept everyone engaged and focused throughout.

Alexandra is a professional guide with whom I got along perfectly. She provided information and details that I wouldn’t have been able to easily obtain otherwise. The tour was well organized. I highly recommend her.

Castel Sant’Angelo has had a long and tumultuous history, meant to be a royal resting place before being converted to a castle-fort for the papacy, and eventually settling for its fate as a museum. Venture through its military exhibits, admire its moats and guarded passageways, and hear the chilling tales of those kept in its dungeons. Get lost in indoor open spaces like the Courtyard of the Angel, and halls like the marble-lined Grand Loggia or the extravagant Paolina Rooms. Be sure to ask your guide lots of questions!

Within the Vatican City enclave, St. Peter’s Basilica towers up over the other buildings. In the grooves of this massive basilica are numerous niche chapels filled with artworks, sculptures, tabernacles, and more by Renaissance greats. Then, venture a level below ground to the Vatican Grottoes and unravel the Papal Tombs. Be in the presence of St. Peter’s supposed sepulcher at Clementine Chapel or pay homage to St. John Paul II's sarcophagi.
