About British Music Experience

The collection is organized as a cross-era survey rather than a single-artist museum. Visitors move across seven decades of British music through artist outfits, instruments, artifacts, explanatory displays, and screen-based material, with temporary exhibitions included in general admission. That mix gives the museum both a permanent chronological spine and a changing layer for repeat or topic-driven visits.

Why visit British Music Experience?

Follow seven decades of British popular music

British Music Experience is the only museum dedicated to telling the story of British popular music from its origins to the present day. Operator materials describe the route as spanning seven decades, so the visit reaches well beyond one band, one city, or one musical scene.

Plan your visit

Main entrance

The main entrance is on Canada Boulevard on the river side of the Cunard Building, opposite the Mersey Ferry terminal. This is the standard entry point for most visitors arriving from the waterfront. It has two flights of stone steps to a landing, followed by three marble steps to the ticket desk.

Accessible entrance

The accessible entrance is on Brunswick Street. Visitors use a ramp and intercom, enter through a released door, and take the lift to ground floor level 0, where staff meet and escort them through to the main entrance area. This route is intended for wheelchair users and other visitors who need step-free access.
