About the Show

Nick Payne’s Constellations by Nick Payne is taking over the West End summer at the Vaudeville Theatre. Michael Longhurst, artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse returns to direct the West End and Broadway classic but with four different star casts. In 2012, the show premiered at London’s Royal Court Theatre before transferring to the West End’s Duke of York’s Theatre after a critically acclaimed run. On Broadway, the play debuted in 2015 and starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Wilson. This enchanting exploration of love, science, and the limitless possibilities of hope is one of Nick Payne’s finest works. Constellations will feature Sheila Atim and Ivanno Jeremiah from 18 June to 1 August, Peter Capaldi and Zoë Wanamaker from 23 June to 24 July, Omari Douglas and Russell Tovey between 30 July and 11 September, and finally Anna Maxwell Martin and Chris O’Dowd from 6 August to 12 September.

The Story

At a BBQ, a quantum physicist and a beekeeper meet. They get along swimmingly and head out for a drink. Or perhaps they don't. They either return home together or go their separate ways. Perhaps they will shatter one another's hearts, or maybe their love story will flourish and grow. If there is life in the multiverse, then unlimited possibilities are very real. So, when two lovers meet in the multiverse, they see everything.

Vaudeville Theatre, London

Designed by C. J. Phipps the Vaudeville Theatre opened in 1870 and was decorated by George Gordon. The performance venue opened with For Love Or Money, a comedy by Andrew Halliday. In 1926, the theatre as it looks presently opened. At present, Nimax Theatres Limited owns the venue. Featuring elaborate decorations with shimmering patterns and straight lines, the theatre is just as beautiful looking inside as it is outside. The theatre also features a charming burgundy ceiling with a Georgian touch.
