Pro tips to help you make a pick

Pre-book dated tickets for weekends, school holidays, and good-weather days. Online booking can also be cheaper than paying at the gate, and it lets you skip the ticket-purchase queue even though you still join the main entrance line.

Choose a family ticket only if your group matches one of the zoo's set combinations, such as 2 adults + 2 children. If your group does not fit a bundle, compare it against individual tickets before paying.

If you expect 2-3 visits in 12 months, compare day tickets with the Zoo Pass or annual membership. Membership is aimed at repeat or local visitors and includes unlimited entry for 12 months, with some on-site discounts.

Standard tickets are self-guided. The research document does not list any audio guide with admission, so plan to use the zoo map and the daily keeper-talk timetable instead.

There is no skip-the-line ticket. Pre-booked tickets are scanned at the main gates, but you still queue at the turnstiles and may face bag checks, especially around opening time.

If you want an animal encounter or Keeper for the Day package, book well ahead and read the age and safety rules carefully. These premium experiences are timed, usually include zoo entry for the participant, and can shape your whole route through the day.

Big Cat Habitat for Tigers and Lions

Big Cat Habitat brings together Amur tigers and lions in outdoor enclosures with elevated viewing platforms and glass viewing areas. If you time your route around the daily timetable, the keeper talks and feeds here can improve your chances of seeing these animals active rather than resting.

Main Entrance

Located off East Park Drive and directly opposite the main car park, this is the only public entrance to Blackpool Zoo. All visitors enter here, with online tickets scanned at the gates and walk-up tickets handled at the nearby ticket office. The route from disabled bays is step-free with generally level access into the zoo. Queues can build at opening during weekends and school holidays, even with pre-booked tickets. Follow on-site signage from the car park or nearby “Zoo” bus stop.
