We really skipped line, otherwise we would have waited at least 30min if not more. Our guide, Haluk was very hekpful from start to the end. We started from the meeting point and in the walking way, he talked about the old square, old ıstanbul and more - not just the planed yerebatan sarnici. Our tour was was well organzied. Our guide Haluk also answered all our questions, guided us to the correct plaves after the tour when we asked questions.

What a wonderful experience! La Cisterna is truly fantastic, and I recommend it to anyone visiting the city—it has an incredible atmosphere. The Bosphorus cruise was a bit crowded, but it was absolutely worth it because the sunset cruise was nothing short of stunning and offered an amazing view.

Basilica cistern was really cool, underwater cave earthy vibes with water and turquoise and mirrored vibes, and then topkapi palace with endless exploration and history. I also woke up late accidentally but had the flexibility with the audio guides. Great day!

Hagia Sophia is a must-see destination, it is beautiful and full of history. The audio guides along the tour help a lot to understand how it has changed over the years.

The evening before the agreed date, I had to send an email because the tickets hadn't arrived yet. In the end, it was sorted out. We were at the Hagia Sophia at 9:00 AM. There were still very few visitors at that hour. Unfortunately, the ongoing renovation work somewhat obstructed a good view of the building. At the Basilica Cistern, we easily found the man with the little flag to get inside. It was incredibly crowded here. As for the Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet), there was no queue. We went in very smoothly. We didn't need an audio guide because we had done the necessary research beforehand.

Excellent Istanbul Experience – Highly Recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We booked the Basilica Cistern Skip-the-Line Ticket + Bosphorus Sightseeing Cruise through Headout, and overall it was a fantastic experience. Getting started

Arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled time and keep your mobile ticket and a valid photo ID ready. A staff member will meet you at the entrance and help you check in. You’ll breeze past the ticket queue, but do note that all visitors must go through a security check.

Basilica Cistern

The Basilica Cistern is one of Istanbul’s most atmospheric spots—a vast, ancient underground reservoir built in the 6th century. It’s best known for its forest of marble columns, the serene reflections in the water, and, of course, the mysterious Medusa heads hidden at the far end.

What to bring

Wear comfortable shoes with a good grip—the stone floor can be damp and slightly slippery.

Have your phone fully charged for photos and the audio guide (there are no charging stations inside).

What's not allowed

Flash photography is not permitted.

Tripods and selfie sticks are not allowed due to space and safety concerns.

Eating, drinking, and smoking are strictly prohibited inside the cistern.

Accessibility

The site is partially accessible; there is a lift near the exit on Alemdar Street near the tram line, but the walking path inside may be uneven in places.

Wheelchair users may need assistance, especially around corners or where the lighting is low.

There are no elevators inside the cistern, and seating is extremely limited.

Arrive early in the morning or visit in the evening to avoid crowds from cruise ship tours.

Don’t miss the Medusa heads tucked into the far corner. Walk around them to see both angles.
