Outstanding experience at the Acropolis & Parthenon 🇬🇷 An absolutely breathtaking experience and, without doubt, one of the highlights of our time in Athens. The Acropolis is an outstanding historical site, with the Parthenon standing proudly above the city and far-reaching views across Athens. We found the downloadable audio guide really added to the experience. Listening to the history and stories as we walked around helped bring the ancient world to life and gave us a much better sense of what this incredible place must have been like all those centuries ago. We also visited the Acropolis Museum, which was well worth adding to the trip. It gave us some welcome time out of the intense Greek sunshine while allowing us to see original statues, sculptures and archaeological finds. The museum also has its own free digital audio guides, with descriptions of many of the exhibits, which made the visit even more interesting. (Acropolis Museum) A particular highlight was stopping for a drink at the museum café and taking in the beautiful views. The museum’s facilities offer some fantastic perspectives across the archaeological site and towards the Acropolis. (Acropolis Museum) We’d also passed the Acropolis on an evening bus tour, and seeing it illuminated against the night sky was equally spectacular. One tip: do a little research before booking to find out when the busiest periods are. It can get extremely crowded around the top, and having fewer people around would definitely make the experience even more special. Overall, an unforgettable visit — breathtaking history, incredible architecture and some of the best views of Athens. Highly recommended! 🇬🇷🏛️

We had a fantastic experience with the combo ticket for the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. It was very convenient to have both attractions included in one ticket, making the whole visit much easier and more enjoyable. The Acropolis itself was absolutely breathtaking, with incredible views over Athens and the chance to see such iconic ancient monuments up close. The Acropolis Museum was an excellent addition and provided a fascinating insight into the history and archaeology of the Acropolis. The combination of seeing the monuments in person and then learning more about them in the museum made the experience even more meaningful. Overall, the combo ticket offered great value and allowed us to enjoy two of Athens’ most important sights without any unnecessary hassle. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Athens!

I bought the tickets in advance to avoid any issues at the ticket counters; the tickets arrived on time, and there was no need to print them—since I’d downloaded the app, it was easy to get in by showing everything on my phone. At the archaeological museum, we had a problem with the audio guide; we called customer service, and they resolved the issue within two minutes. It was also great that they speak multiple languages. Otherwise, everything went well.

The tour was fantastic! Our guide shared both stories of the sites, history and some mythology wrapped in. We got a lot more out of the experience than we would have going without a guide. We were a family of 4 with an 8 year old and a 13 year old. We all enjoyed the experience and would completely reccomend it. Also we went on a very hot August day, the guide intentionally took breaks in the shade to keep everyone from melting.

Booking and getting into the Acropolis were very easy. The audio guide wasn't necessary. There's a free audio guide available at the entrance that you can install very quickly. Unfortunately, I had to pay for the audio guide for the kids here. Kids get in for free, after all. The audio guide at the Acropolis is also free. With HeadOut, I paid twice for the kids. And they didn’t even use it...

The guided tour was simple and intuitive, thanks in part to the module being activated based on our GPS location. We didn't have to wait in line, except for a quick check at the entrance. The location is simply incredible. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

It wasn't obvious that this wasn't a counterfeit ticket but the admission ticket to the Acropolis. The museum ticket was easy to spot. Both are definitely worth it. Go early in the morning because it gets very, very hot at the site in the summer, and there's no shade.

Accessibility

The Acropolis has limited accessibility for visitors with mobility challenges. While there is an elevator near the South Slope entrance, its operation is managed entirely by the venue and may not always be available. Certain pathways are paved, but terrain remains uneven in many areas, and assistance may be required.

Visitors with disabilities and one escort are eligible for free admission with valid documentation.

Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are available near the Acropolis Museum and site entrances.

Rest spots and benches are available, but shaded areas are limited.

The Acropolis Museum is fully accessible with elevators, ramps, and tactile exhibits for visually impaired visitors.

Some sites, like the Roman Agora and Temple of Zeus, have smoother paths, but others, like the Ancient Agora, feature rough terrain.

Additional information

Note: The Acropolis Parthenon operates on a timed entry system, requiring visitors to book a date and time slot in advance. Arrive 30 minutes early for a hassle-free experience. You can enter up to 15 minutes before or after your chosen time slot.

For tour options without Acropolis tickets, customers must purchase their tickets separately in advance and select a time slot that matches the tour departure time to join the tour.

The app and audio guides require around 200-250 MB of space on your device.

The Acropolis offers free admission on select days, including March 6, April 18, May 18, the last weekend of September, October 28, and the first Sundays from November to March.

The Acropolis Museum also offers free admission on March 6 (Melina Mercouri Day), March 25 (National Holiday), May 18 (International Day of Museums), and October 28 (National Holiday).

Concession eligibility

EU citizens aged up to 25 years receive free admission year-round upon presenting a valid ID or passport.

Visitors are advised to arrive 30 minutes before their booked timed entry slot.

Non-EU citizens aged up to 25 years receive free admission year-round upon presenting a valid ID or passport.

Children under 6 years old, regardless of nationality, receive free admission with valid identification.

Individuals over 65 years old from Greece or other EU member states are eligible for a reduced admission fee, from October 1st to May 31st of each year, upon presenting a valid ID or passport.

Persons with disabilities with a 67% disability or higher and one escort are entitled to free admission, regardless of nationality, upon presenting a valid ID or passport.

Greek unemployed citizens can avail of a concession by presenting their ID card along with a valid unemployment card or proof of recent renewal.

Greek families with multiple children can receive concessions if they present an ID card and a valid certificate of large family status issued by the Greek Supreme Confederation of Large Family Parents. If their children have disabilities, they must also present a Disability Certificate issued by the Disability Certification Center.

Ticket information

Adult Tickets are available for visitors aged 18–99. Admission to the Acropolis is free for children under 18. The €6 Child Ticket includes the self-guided audio tour. A valid ID or passport confirming the visitor's age and identity must be presented at the entrance.

Please note: Free admission tickets for EU citizens aged 18–24 are not available. Eligible visitors may obtain a free admission ticket directly at the archaeological site by presenting a valid ID, subject to availability for the preferred entry time.
