Getting started
Arrive at the main entrance of Nouvel Building at the museum to get your tickets validated. A brief security check later, you'll be able to enter the museum and begin your self-guided tour.

As Spain’s leading museum for modern and contemporary art, Reina Sofía houses nearly 25,000 works and is renowned for its focus on Spanish artists and pivotal 20th-century movements.

The museum is wheelchair accessible, with ramps and elevators available throughout the building.

You can also loan wheelchairs at the information points at the museum's Sabatini and Nouvel Buildings.

You're free to bring a service animal along, provided you carry all relevant official documentation for verification.

You'll also find accessible parking for adapted vehicles in the museum's loading bay.

Individuals with more than 33% disability enjoy free access to Prado and Thyssen for themselves and one person accompanying them. They must carry an official card or documentation to avail of this benefit.

The museum remains closed on Tuesdays.

Free access to the museum is available for individual visitors during the last two hours on all days. However, keep in mind that it can get very crowded during this period.

Due to architectural improvements, the museum's library will remain open between 5pm and 9pm until November 21.

Access to certain parts of the museum may be restricted or closed due to improvements or for assembling new collections.
