Visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park in August was one of the highlights of my trip to Croatia. The place is absolutely beautiful, and seeing the crystalclear lakes, waterfalls, and greenery in person was even better than I expected. Walking along the wooden pathways surrounded by nature was a wonderful experience, and every few minutes there seemed to be another amazing view worth stopping for. Since I visited in August, it was quite busy, especially around the main waterfalls and popular viewpoints, but that didn’t take away from the experience. The weather was perfect for exploring, although I would definitely recommend comfortable shoes, water, and starting early to avoid some of the crowds. The boat ride across the lake was particularly enjoyable and gave us a chance to relax between the walks. Overall, Plitvice Lakes is an incredible place and definitely worth visiting when travelling through Croatia. I would happily visit again!

This trip was absolutely amazing from start to finish! The landscapes were truly breathtaking, but what made the experience even more special was our guide, Dino. He was by far one of the best guides I’ve ever had. He was incredibly positive, full of life, and explained everything so clearly and passionately. We had so much fun throughout the whole day! We also learned so much about Zagreb and Croatia in general, and the journey itself never felt long because Dino kept us entertained and engaged. It genuinely felt like we were spending the day with a group of friends rather than being on a guided tour. We never really felt like tourists even though it was only a day trip, we felt immersed in the culture and got to experience Croatia in such a memorable way. I couldn’t recommend this trip enough!

De meren zijn heel mooi alsook Rastoke,een piepklein dorpje. De busrit verliep heel vlot en stipt. De gidswas een fantastische dame!! Heel goede,duidelijke uitleg over alles. Ze bracht het op een ludieke,plezante manier,absoluut niet saai. We kregen overal genoeg tijd om te lunchen,foto's te nemen... Ze hield heel goed rekening met een ouder koppel dat mee was met de groep. De groep was ook niet te groot. Fantastische ervaring dus!!

What to expect

This day trip explores two of Croatia’s most well-known natural sites. Plitvice Lakes National Park, established in 1949, is Croatia’s oldest and largest national park, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its unique system of 16 interconnected lakes and cascading waterfalls. The tour also includes a visit to Rastoke, a riverside village known for its traditional watermills and scenic setting.

Rastoke village: Stroll through this historic settlement at the confluence of the Slunjčica and Korana rivers, where wooden watermills and natural waterfalls showcase the region’s rural heritage.

Plitvice Lakes National Park: Follow your guide along forest trails and boardwalks to see the park’s 16 terraced lakes, each linked by a series of waterfalls, and learn about the park’s ecological significance.

Kozjak Lake boat ride: Enjoy an included electric boat ride across Kozjak Lake, the park’s largest lake, offering a unique perspective of the surrounding landscape.

Panoramic train ride: Take in sweeping views of the park’s lakes and forests from the panoramic train, included with your entry ticket (seasonal operation).

Guided walking tour: Cover approximately 8.5 kilometers (5 miles) on foot, visiting all of the Lower Lakes and highlights of the Upper Lakes, with insights from your professional guide.

The tour is not wheelchair accessible due to uneven terrain and steps.
