Hvammsvik Hot Spring is in a beautiful spot on a fjord, has five pools of slightly different temperatures (though all warm enough for comfort) and pleasnat facilities. An easy distance from Reykjavik, if you want an Icelandic Hot Spring experience this should be it.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 “We had an amazing experience at Hvemmsvik Hot Springs. The natural setting is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere. The hot pools were clean, relaxing, and offered different temperatures to suit everyone. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the facilities were well maintained. What we loved most was how authentic and simple everything felt. Unlike many larger spas, Hvemmsvik has a genuine, natural atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and connect with the surrounding nature. It felt less crowded and more authentic than many other geothermal spas in Iceland. A perfect place to unwind and enjoy Icelandic nature. Highly recommended!”

After a an amazing hike up to Glymur Falls going to the hot springs was simply perfect! We had a tasty lunch and then a short wait to enjoy the springs. The beauty of sitting in any of the several pools while seeing the breathtaking landscape around us was unforgettable!

We booked the first session of the day and were not disappointed. It was amazing to experience the natural pools which had been used since the 1100's. It was such an amazing experience with breathtaking scenery and I even braved having a dip in the Atlantic.

Accessibility

Hvammsvík Hot Springs are wheelchair and pushchair accessible, with wheelchair-accessible facilities available.

Guests with back or cardiac issues are advised to avoid entering the pools.

Additional information

The tour departs from the BSÍ Bus Terminal in Reykjavík city center. The transfer to Hvammsvík takes around 1 hour.

If you choose hotel pick-up, be sure to select your preferred pick-up location when booking.

Gender-neutral changing facilities are provided.

This experience is restricted to guests aged 10 and above.

Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

For a 10:30am departure, the return is at 2pm, while for a 5pm departure, the return is at 8:30pm.

Towels and wading shoes are not included but are available for rent.

Pools have varying depths and temperatures.

The site may have rocky or uneven areas.

The tour is available year-round and operates in most weather conditions.
