The museum and crypt are a must see. Great to have everything included on the one ticket. The audio guide was also excellent and having it on your phone was a step above. Shame it didn't encompass everything on the ticket.

Florence Cathedral Complex

Surrounding the majestic cathedral is the Crypt of Santa Reparata, St. John’s Baptistery, Opera del Duomo Museum, and the looming Giotto’s Bell Tower!

Your Museum and Baptistery ticket remains valid for 72 hours after your chosen date. At the Opera del Duomo Museum, explore over 750 works spanning 720 years, featuring masterpieces from renowned artists like Arnolfo, Donatello, Ghiberti, and Michelangelo.

Next, visit the Baptistery of San Giovanni, one of Florence's oldest churches, located directly across from the cathedral. Its eight-segment dome rests gracefully on the walls, but it’s the three sets of bronze doors adorned with relief sculptures that steal the show—Michelangelo famously called the east doors the Gates of Paradise.

Giotto’s Bell Tower

If you opt for a ticket that includes Giotto's Bell Tower, prepare for a climb of over 400 steps! The effort is rewarded with breathtaking panoramas of Florence. This Campanile is a quintessential example of 13th-century Florentine Gothic architecture, crafted by Giotto, a leading artist of the era.

Brunelleschi’s Dome

Designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, an untrained architect, the dome emerged victorious from a competitive bidding process. After much debate and uncertainty, his groundbreaking double-shell design was embraced, resulting in a stunning structure resilient against lightning, earthquakes, and time. The right ticket option lets you climb it and observe the murals lining the inside!

What's not allowed

Strict dress code : Clothing that covers the knees and shoulders. Sandals/flip-flops, hats, and sunglasses must be removed before entry.

Shutterbugs, take note: Flash photography is a no-go inside the venue.

Leave your luggage and backpacks behind. Only small bags are allowed inside the museum.

Guests under the age of 18 years cannot access Giotto’s Bell Tower and Brunelleschi’s Dome without an adult.

Accessibility

Ramps are available at the Museum, Cathedral, Baptistry, and Santa Reparata for easy access.

The Dome and Bell Tower are not accessible by wheelchair and not recommended for guests with mobility issues, back problems, or heart conditions.

Guide dogs (with relevant certification) are welcome at the venue.

Additional information

The tickets are valid for 3 consecutive days from the date of visit. However, access to the Crypt of Santa Reparata, Brunelleschi's Dome, & Giotto's Bell Tower is timed and must be visited on the date and time selected during checkout.

Check your calendars before booking! The Opera del Duomo Museum is closed on the first Tuesday of each month.

The doors to the Cathedral close at 3:45pm and remain closed on Sundays and religious holidays. Plan your visit accordingly.

While entry to Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral is free, you require tickets to access the rest of the complex.

Unfortunately, due to ongoing restoration work, the mosaics in the vault of the Baptistery are not currently visible.
