We went on the English speaking tour and had Vaso as our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about the monasteries the local area and geology which was an added bonus.
Inside the chapels, is the most beautiful artwork and intricate carvings I have ever seen. For me, my favourite places were St Barbara and St Stephan. Everywhere you look there is so much history and so much work that has gone into building these sanctuaries.
I 100% recommend this tour. Is it a long day? Yes it is. Is it worth it? 1000% yes. Book the tour, you will not be disappointed.

Overall, this tour offers excellent value for money! I highly recommend choosing the option with lunch included.
The only downside is that on the way back, the bus stops at a rest area where you have no other dining options, and the food there is quite expensive. If you decide not to eat there, you’ll arrive back in Athens after 9:00 PM.
Other than that, everything was great. The tour guide was excellent, and the driver was very professional. Most of the stops gave us enough time to explore, although I felt the last photo stop could have been a little longer.

Firstly, Meteora is magical. Very breathtaking views and totally worth it. This is not a place to be missed in Greece and in Europe. The trip was well organized from the bus trip, the lunch and the guides. Great explanation about meteora and good organization skills with enough time for photos and monastery visits. Only disclaimer (not part of the package but good to mention) is that dinner is self paid and the servers were forcing people add ons like salads and juice almost implying it's free so be cautious on your way back to select only what you would like to eat.

During the Busride to meteora, no anouncements where made. So we did not know if there would be toilet breaks or not, and it was hard to communicate with the personell in english. The break we then took was at a tourist trap stop with expensive but bad food.
Same goes for the second break, where the toilets were i realy bad condition.
Once in Meteora the tour was great and the tour guide was friendly, knowledgable and spoke several languages.
Would recommend, but pack enough food for the day and some wet wipes for the toilets

Our full-day tour to Meteora was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Greece. From start to finish, everything was exceptionally well organized and thoughtfully planned, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable.
The journey itself was comfortable, and the scenery along the way was beautiful. But nothing compares to arriving at Meteora — the views are absolutely breathtaking. Seeing the monasteries perched on top of those massive rock formations is something you really have to experience in person.
A special thank you to our guide, who made the day even more memorable. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about sharing the history and stories behind Meteora. The audio explanations added so much depth to what we were seeing.
The lunch was also a pleasant surprise — delicious, satisfying, and well-timed, giving us a nice break to relax and enjoy local flavors.
Overall, everything about this tour was excellent: the organization, the guide, the food, and of course the incredible destination itself. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Greece. It’s absolutely worth it!

What to bring
- Bring some cash for entrance donations (€3 to €5 per monastery) and any purchases, as credit card facilities may not be available.
- Opt for sturdy shoes with good grip, as paths can be uneven and include many steps.
- Carry water and light snacks, especially during warmer months (June to August).
- Don’t forget to bring your own earphones and a fully charged phone to listen to the audio guides comfortably.
What's not allowed
- While outdoor photography is generally permitted, refrain from taking photos inside churches and of monks or nuns.
- Flying drones is prohibited without special permission.

- Expect to visit 2 to 4 monasteries. Each has a weekly closing day (Great Meteoron on Tuesdays, Varlaam on Fridays), so the lineup may vary.
- All monasteries require a €3 to €5 offering per person, payable in cash at the gate.
- Tour guides are not allowed inside the monasteries. To continue exploring while inside, take advantage of the multilingual audio guides.
- Tours use minibuses or local shuttles to transport visitors between sites.
- Basic toilets are available at larger monasteries (Great Meteoron, Varlaam, St. Stephen) and may require a small tip.
- The Meteora monasteries follow a strict dress code. Men must wear long pants; women need long skirts and shoulder coverage. Sleeveless tops and shorts are not allowed.
