A visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mine is an absolute masterpiece, but it was our brilliant guide who turned this tour into a true adventure. From the very entrance and the descent down monumental stairs to the ride back up in the dynamic miners' elevator, the entire route was organized flawlessly. The underground world is breathtaking. The Tourist Route leads through incredible, raw chambers and atmospheric corridors. The true highlight everyone was waiting for was, of course, St. Kinga's Chapel. The artistry and precision with which all the chandeliers, bas-reliefs, and altars were carved from salt simply leaves you speechless. On top of that, the magical underground brine lakes with their extraordinary colors make a stunning impression in person. What truly sets this tour apart, though, is the guide's passion and knowledge. Instead of a boring recitation of dry facts, we were treated to brilliant anecdotes about the miners' historic work, the role of horses underground, and legends of the Skarbnik and St. Kinga's ring. The guide had a great sense of humor, kept an eye on the group's pace, and knew how to engage everyone—from the youngest to the oldest. Without these stories, this place would be "just" a beautiful underground space, but with them, it became a fascinating journey through time. Tip for others: It's worth wearing comfortable shoes (there are plenty of stairs and lots of walking!) and bringing warmer clothes, as the temperature underground is consistently brisk. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Krakow area! A wonderful lesson in history, art, and nature all in one.

Like descending into another planet. The Wieliczka Salt Mine isn't a "mine" — it's a 700-year-old underground city carved entirely out of salt. You go down 800 steps and suddenly you're walking through grey salt tunnels, then a massive chapel where EVERYTHING - the chandeliers, the altar, the statues - is made of salt. The St. Kinga's Chapel literally took my breath away. It's cold (17°C year-round), it's deep (135m underground), and it's surreal. The acoustics, the underground lakes, the air that tastes salty... you feel the weight of centuries of miners who created this. Tip: Book the first morning tour. No crowds, and the light inside the chapel is magical. A must-do in Krakow. 10/10.

I recommend this tour without hesitation; you go down to a depth of 135 m. And you see how men and animals worked to extract the salt. You'll be amazed by its history, its vast tunnels, its chapels, its lakes... For French speakers, I recommend the guide Marek Czyzowsk (Marc), a fantastic guide who will explain the history and wonders of this mine with a touch of humor to make it an enjoyable visit. It was simply so convenient to be picked up by a driver and handed the tickets right away. Since the mine gets very busy, I can only recommend this kind of tour. We didn't have to look for parking or wait forever in line to buy tickets. Our driver explained everything clearly, the guided tour was wonderful, and we could just relax on the way back since we didn't have to drive ourselves. Truly fantastic service. Thank you so much.

The many parallel tours are extremely tightly scheduled. To put it a bit dramatically: You are 'herded through'. The museum visit afterwards was extreme. Literally in a forced military march, we rushed through all the museum rooms and halls in 20 minutes! We were given 5 minutes for the large St. Barbara Chamber. What a shame, because this unique and magnificent salt mine deserved far more APPRECIATION.

The salt mines have to be one of the best visitor attractions anywhere. A great half day spent exploring an underground wonder. One area which could be improved is the communication between us and the tour operator. We had one txt and 3 emails informing us of two different pick up locations and 3 different times. This was both confusing could somewhat stressful wondering if we would make the trip

The tour was well-organized and ran smoothly despite the size of the group. Thanks to the audio guides with earpieces, the guide was easy to hear. Our guide spoke clearly and informatively, leading the group capably. You descend stairs to 64 m and later 110 m underground. Through the mine passages you go from room to room, each with its own theme. In total 2.5 kilometers, so quite active, but there is a lift to go back up. There was a lot of impressive things to see and everything was well-maintained: statues carved out of salt from different eras always tell a piece of history; elsewhere, original wooden machinery structures and tools form a backdrop for life-sized museum mannequins depicting miners' lives. An immense underground chapel, richly decorated with artistic salt rock carvings, is a highlight. Beautiful forms of salt crystallization can be admired in numerous places, as well as a few underground lakes. Light and sound effects are used here and there for an audiovisual experience.

A mixed start, as our booking was delayed by 3 hours... apparently due to a lack of available French-speaking guides (we're not complaining, since another Frenchman had his visit to Auschwitz canceled even though he booked far in advance...). It was an interesting visit and an impressive site. There is another more interactive tour with a simulation of being a miner (supposedly very good, according to someone who did it the day before). No issues with the stairs (about 900 steps, and only going down) and the way back up is by elevator. Definitely worth doing.

Overall, it's a good tour. You walk a lot through the mines and they explain the history of the mine along the way. I'd say I'm only giving it 4 stars because the guide was hard to understand due to their accent (the tour was in English). But everything else was good overall; in my opinion, the temple is the biggest highlight of the tour.
