Musician’s Bio: Edo de Waart
In 1964, aged 23, de Waart won the Dimitri Mitropoulos Conducting Competition due to which his musical career grew rapidly. Currently, he is the music director of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the chief conductor of the Royal Flemish Philharmonic, the Artistic Partner with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and music director at the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
Over his prolific career, his achievements have grown just as much as his recognition. In 2001, de Waart was awarded the Australian Centenary Medal. In 2005 he was appointed as an Honorary Officer of the Order of Australia. He is also a knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lions.
The Concert
The Concert
The concert is an hour-long piece, with no breaks. The incredible Edo de Waart will be conducting the orchestra to perform Johannes Brahms greatest work - a piece that took 15 years to develop. The concert will also perform the emotional third part of Bernstein’s First Symphony - a piece containing texts from the prophet Jeremiah.
