Six of Venice's most culturally rich institutions, one ticket, and no queue at the most visited address on the Grand Canal.
Getting started
Doge's Palace
Enter through the Porta del Frumento on Piazzetta San Marco. Present your ticket at your selected time slot. Bags larger than a small backpack must be checked into the free cloakroom before entering. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your slot.
What to expect
Doge's Palace
The Doge's Palace served as the seat of Venetian political power for over five centuries, housing the Republic's government, courts, and prisons within one extraordinary Gothic building on the edge of the lagoon.
-
Masterpiece rooms: Move through the grand council chambers, where Tintoretto's Il Paradiso spans the far wall of the Sala del Maggior Consiglio and Veronese's Apotheosis of Venice decorates the ceiling overhead.
-
Façade sculptures: Look out for Calendario's Noah's Drunkenness and Rizzo's Adam and Eve, among the finest examples of Gothic and Renaissance sculpture in Venice.
-
The Bridge of Sighs and New Prisons: Cross the covered stone bridge that connected the palace to the New Prisons, where the inscriptions of former prisoners still mark the walls.
St. Mark's Square Museums
All three museums are located on or adjacent to St. Mark's Square and are accessible with the same ticket.
-
Museo Correr: Trace the history of the Venetian Republic through paintings, maps, coins, and artefacts, including portraits of Princess Sissi from her time in Venice.
-
National Archaeological Museum: Explore one of Italy's oldest public collections, covering Greek and Roman sculptures, bronzes, coins, and gems assembled by the Grimani family in the 16th century.
-
Marciana Library (Biblioteca Marciana): Step beneath the gilded and frescoed ceilings of one of the world's oldest public libraries, housing over 13,000 ancient manuscripts and rare printed works.
Querini Stampalia Foundation
Located a short walk from St. Mark's Square in the Castello district, the Querini Stampalia Foundation occupies a Renaissance palazzo that has been open to the public since 1869.
-
Browse works by Giovanni Bellini, Pietro Longhi, and Gabriel Bella across rooms that have been preserved largely as they were when the Querini Stampalia family lived here.
-
The ground floor features contemporary architectural interventions by Carlo Scarpa, making it as interesting for architecture enthusiasts as it is for art lovers.
Scuola Grande dei Carmini
Located in the Dorsoduro district near Campo Santa Margherita, the Scuola Grande dei Carmini is one of Venice's six historic confraternities, founded in the 16th century.
-
The upper hall ceiling features nine paintings by Giambattista Tiepolo, commissioned in the 1740s and considered among his finest Venetian works.
-
The building itself is a rare intact example of Baroque civic architecture, designed by Baldassare Longhena, the same architect behind the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute.
