I drove to Pompeii and used their Parking Lot. Getting into the ruins was a bit complicated. I showed my online ticket near where I parked and got a receipt, then went upstairs to pick up my audio unit. They hold your ID until you return. They explained I needed a voucher to enter the ruins. The entrance was a 5 minute walk back to another station that wasn't well identified, near coffee and food shops. They wanted to see the receipt and some ID, and finally issued an official entry ticket. The entrance tto the ruins was there. I think if you don't park, you can be dropped at the entrance easily. The ruins are amazing.

It's so easy! The agency is right next to the bus station. Except that we didn't have the maps (impossible to download). So we walked around and asked. We finally found it, but we'd forgotten our identity cards! So we paid a cash deposit of 100 euros. Our daughters brought us 1 photo of our passports. Phew! For the entrance. A very friendly young French-speaking lady at reception gave us back our deposit at the end. The audio in the form of a cell phone geolocated us, so it was very practical for the visit. Very good😀

The visit went well. The site is magnificent, and by selecting the places to see beforehand, the self-guided tour is quite enjoyable. Regarding the booking, we booked online, in advance to save time, but we had to go through an office to get the audioguides (where the staff were lovely), then queue like everyone else to get the entrance tickets!!!! This makes no sense, so I see no point in buying tickets online...

We loved visiting pompei. No lines everyone was friendly and helpful. I think the ticketing system could be more efficient but it works.

Fantastic to see this site of such national importance the highlights are the covered area with the raised gantries which give an amazing perspective of the excavations, the vine yard and the casts which really bring the human cost of what happened home, and the scale "the site is huge"

Customers are signaled that they have a ticket. There is no fastlane at the entrance. Like everyone else, you have to wait in a long queue to get your ticket.

Unpleasant staff, free luggage storage at the entrance to the Pompeii site, audioguide not very captivating.
  • Step into ancient Pompeii and explore a city frozen in time. With your skip-the-line ticket, dive straight into the ruins, where life once thrived before Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD.

Start at the central forum, once the bustling heart of the city, and picture Romans going about their daily lives. Wander down timeworn streets, past remnants of aqueducts, fountains, baths, and homes still adorned with faded frescoes.

Stand inside the grand amphitheater and imagine the roar of the crowd, or stroll through the dramatic theater where plays once captivated audiences. With an audioguide to bring it all to life, Pompeii’s history unfolds around you—an ancient world waiting to be discovered.
