We loved visiting these two monuments. We preferred the outside of the Pena Palace to the inside. La Quinta is really beautiful, and the trails are pleasant in sunny weather. Wear comfortable shoes, as you'll be doing a lot of walking! Be careful with the tickets for the palace... in the booking it was mentioned that the QRcode was not the final ticket, that you had to exchange it at a certain address to get the real entrance ticket. We arrived early but couldn't find the office at the location indicated. We were worried and lost time. We tried to enter the park with the QRcode and it finally went through... this info should be corrected so we don't go through all that trouble for nothing 😉

The place was just mesmerising, it was my first time in Lisbon and my first time in the Monastery. It was an incredible experience. The building itself is breathtaking, but I also liked how I got handled at the entrance - the person letting me in and out was nice and polite. There also wasn't much queuing. Directions inside the Monastery were clear, toilets were kept clean, the place looked well taken care of. I visited the Monastery at the end of November, so it was obvious to me that it wasn't gonna be very crowded, but it was a nice surprise still. I suggest that people who would like to properly enjoy the place without raging crowds choose "off-season" sightseeing in the Monastery. Overall, I'd rate my visit 5/5 stars.

An unforgettable experience in Lisbon! The combo including the Jeronimos Monastery, St. George's Castle and Lisbon Cathedral was excellent. Each place has its own charm: the Monastery impresses with its architecture and history, the Castle offers incredible panoramic views of the city and the Cathedral is majestic and very well preserved. The Pena Palace is a very beautiful place that transports you to antiquity, if you are a lover of antiques, history and photography, do not hesitate to take this tour. If you are staying in the center of Sintra and you are with family, taking uber is the best option in terms of cost and speed. We had the opportunity to visit in autumn, and it is definitely the best time. There are not so many people and there are not so many lines. I recommend you to bring water, shoes and comfortable clothes. Bring your camera or cell phone, because every place is magnificent to take your pictures. Buying the tickets with headout was easy and fast, when you get to the entrance they just scan the code and you don't need to have internet, also, it includes an audio where they explain you while you go through the palace. We really enjoyed the experience, and we loved the wonderful views from the palace of sorrow. Go more or less two hours in advance so you can be at ease. Keep in mind to put your backpacks and valuables in front of your body. ♥️

1. When I bought the ticket online, it mentioned about audio guide. However, there was none. 2. It mentioned it took 2-4 hours to visit the monastery. I finished in an hour as it was a small place to visit. 3. Before entering the monastery, I showed my ticket to the staff and asked if there was toilet facilities. The female staff asked me to go to nearby cafeteria for toilet. 4. The stairs leading to 1st floor are not flat and with slope design. It poses significant safety risks. Although plastic sheets are laid on the steps, anti-slip decking strips should be used to prevent accident.

The Palace is impressive and we spend about an hour in it. Unfortunately we couldn't walk in the park due to bed weather what makes the police close it for walk. However , it looks very beautiful from what we could see. The Palace wasn't crowdy probably because of the weather. The stuff there are really nice. The Moorish Castle was close. HeadOut team helped us to get quick refund and were really kind and helpful.

Jerónimos Monastery

A historic church built to commemorate Vasco Da Gama's voyage to India, Jerónimos Monastery is a stunning model of Manueline architecture incorporating Gothic, Moorish, and Renaissance styles. The two levels of cloisters are so structurally detailed that they took a hundred years to be completed! See mythical creatures like gargoyles and marine animals within the carvings, columns, and arches. Tiled decorations on the walls depict important Biblical stories. The tower has long been a symbol of Portugal’s history, culture, and heritage. Officially called the ‘Tower of Saint Vincent’ in honor of Lisbon’s patron saint, this 16th-century fortification has kept a watchful eye on the city over the centuries. Keep an eye out for crosses of the Order of Christ, twisted ropes that wind around the building ending in elegant knots, armillary spheres, and other Gothic features. The Tower consists of four stories that you can explore: the Governor's Room, Kings' Room, Audience Room, and the vaulted chapel.

Jerónimos Monastery

The Jerónimos Monastery remains closed on Monday, 1st January, Easter Sunday, 1st May, and 25th December.

The Monastery is closed between 9:30am and 1pm on October 24th and December 5th.

Pena Palace

Pena Palace is in Sintra which is 25 kilometers from Lisbon.

Please note that you will have to enter from the house tour entrance and not the main gate.

The path from the entry to the Park to the Palace is around a 30 min walk. If the transport option is selected, the transfers included for this experience are between the main entrance of the Park and the Palace.

Accessible parking spaces are conveniently located at the historic center of Sintra or the peripheral car parks available. There are parking lots at the park entrance but may be limited depending on the number of visitors.
