Getting started

Arrive directly at the indoor venue 5 minutes before your reserved time. The air-conditioned space features an authentic sumo ring, where you’ll take your seat and settle in for a 90-minute experience. Free T-shirts and pants are provided if you choose to participate in the sumo challenge.

What to expect

• Learn about the sport’s approximately 1,500-year history and its deep connections to Shinto, Japan’s indigenous spiritual tradition.

• Get insights into the wrestler ranking system and the demanding daily life of rikishi, the wrestlers who train and live within sumo stables.

• See former professional wrestlers compete in the ring and experience sumo up close rather than as a staged tourist performance.

• Those who wish to participate can change into the provided T-shirt and pants and step into the ring for a hands-on sumo experience.

• At the end of the show, everyone has the opportunity to take a commemorative photo with the sumo wrestlers using their own phone or camera.
