We visited the Castel in the afternoon, the entery line was not all that long but with our pre-purchase tickets pretty much went in straight away. The Castel it self was very intersting, as it is built on an old Roman Fort and you realy got a great sense of it age as you made your way from the entry up to the newer fortications above. Exploring the fortress was easy follow the arrows and you wandered from room to room (if you had a self guided tour you would get explainations of every you would visit). We didn't use the self guided tour but we followed the path taking our time. From state rooms to roof tops to batlements there was plenty of opertunites to stop and take it all in. There is a tuck shop in the Castel for refrshments and snaks. All in all we as a family enjoyed the visit.

The entry queues even for people with pre-paid short queue tickets were poorly organised with no signs and ended up being long queues. In the queue we were treated a bit like cattle being quashed and herded together and it was a very unfortable experience. Even when we eventually arrived at the entrance we still had another long wait to get through security. Eventually we arrived inside St Peters after 2 hours of queuing. I bought short queue tickets so that my 82 year old grandmother with me would not have to stand for a long time in the queue. In the end it was all a big con. with these on-line short queue ticket sales.

Our visit to St. Peter’s Basilica with Dome Access on November 26, 2025 was truly unforgettable. We were a group of four—two adults and our children, ages nine and four—and each of us was impressed from start to finish. The basilica’s interior felt breathtakingly grand, and even the kids were captivated by its beauty and history. Climbing to the dome was the highlight: challenging at moments but absolutely worth it for the sweeping views over Vatican City and Rome. The entire experience felt inspiring, peaceful, and perfectly organized. It’s a must-do for families visiting Rome.

It was a beautiful location. We maybe shouldn't have bought the ticket for a Sunday, so if you do book a Sunday beware. I booked this last minute and was the last day I could book in for. We qued with a (guide/assistant) though I'm unsure if this was any shorter then just queing normall, it took about 1 hour and a half or more to get into the Basilica. Please be aware if you're booking this location to make sure you have enough time to que and see inside. We were lucky this was the last thing we'd booked that day as the time on ticket was the queing start time not the entering the Basilica time.

St Peter's Basilica was magnificent with heights soaring to the heavens. The skip-the-line entry (with a guide) to plough through the crowds was extremely helpful and once inside, we really liked the self-guided audio tour. It gave us time for quiet reflection and our own pacing. A must do!

Once we found the support team, they tried very hard to make sure the app worked andwe were satisfied. They were very friendly and supportive. But the meeting spot was unclear and we only ended up with 1 of 4 audio guides. We would not do this again.
