The ship was very old, overcrowded (did not have enough seats inside in the cold) and it was a "one -man-show" without any service in the 2h tour (no drinks etc.). The only positive thing was the captain and his way of guiding the tour and the good information about all the sights. Next time on a more modern boat with service, at least with a hot coffee.

There was a bit of miscoordination during the start, and then we were assigned a new boat. Also, I felt they did not exactly go into Speicherstadt. Rather more towards containers ships. But the views were nice!

The harbor tour was great and is definitely recommended. But if Headout can't manage to send the ticket, then that's an indictment. Handling more than eight million containers in a year, and lined with a fleet of romantic tour barges, Hamburg harbour is the largest seaport in all of Germany! For centuries, this port has been the driving force behind Hamburg’s rising economy. While the port presents itself as a striking image of urbanization and development, it also, much like Venice, has a labyrinth of canals, inducing a feeling of medieval times. Hamburg owes much of its worldly character to the mighty Elbe, the river on which the port is situated.

The extended 2-hour tour of the port of Hamburg is nothing short of an adventure. With informative and interesting facts imparted by an experienced captain on board the cruise, you will leave with a better and deeper understanding of the affairs that take place within the harbour shores. By the time you’re done with the cruise, you’ll be thorough with container terminals, having a better understanding of terms like dry dock, TEU, RoRo, and more.
