He falls in love with the 17-year old Baroness Mary Vetsera and enters into a scandalous affair with her. Will the couple be forced to give each other up due to interference from the Emperor?

Mayerling is renowned British choreographer Kenneth MacMillan’s most famous ballet and was first showcased in 1978. It was critically acclaimed for investing the audience into the story and fate of the characters with an infusion of authenticity and solemnity. Mayerling is the combined work of some of the greatest artists in their fields. The set design was by renowned painter and designer Nicholas Georgiadis, the libretto was set by British writer Gillian Freeman, and music by legendary composer Franz Liszt. MacMillan’s choreography brilliantly captures the emotion of Liszt’s music and his focus on the story of the characters is excellently executed, while not losing the charm of a ballet. Do not miss this gripping ballet about love and sacrifice!
