About Seville Aquarium

Seville Aquarium which opened in 2014 near the Guadalquivir River, has over 400 species in 31 tanks, including a 9-meter-deep bull shark tank. Tracing Magellan’s 1519 voyage, it has interactive displays and focuses on conservation efforts with breeding programmes and fish nursery, making it educational and family-friendly.

Seville Aquarium participates in conservation efforts, including breeding programs for endangered species like the Caretta Caretta sea turtle. Chelo, a rescued Caretta caretta, is a star attraction and popular mascot at the aquarium.

The aquarium focuses on both ex-situ (in the facility) and in-situ (in the natural environment) conservation. Ex situ programs involve breeding endangered animals and ensuring their well-being.
