Kunsthaus Zürich: Maria Lassnig & Edvard Munch Exhibition Entry Ticket

The exhibition brings the two artists together in a major exhibition for the first time, despite more than half a century separating their careers.

The exhibition explores the parallels in how both artists used painting to express emotion, bodily sensations, illness, death, nature, and other existential experiences.

Munch’s work focuses strongly on the cycle of life, death, and renewal, while Lassnig is known for her inward-looking “body awareness” paintings, which translate physical sensations and inner states into visual form.

Lassnig regarded Munch as an important artistic reference, so the exhibition places their works side by side to reveal connections in their use of colour, line, composition, and emotional expression.
