Participate in Traditional Maori Activities
Make your way from Rotorua to Tamaki Maori Village; passing the time pleasantly with interactive commentary on the way. Enjoy the traditional Powhiri welcome ceremony at the village nestled in a native Tawa Forest. Spend some interactive time in the village, where every whare (hut) represents a distinct past time. Take the chance to physically participate in traditional activities such as haka, poi, stick games, weaving, carving, and arts of warrior training.
The events are aligned to the Maori lunar calendar. Tū Te Rā (Summer Harvest Celebration) commemorates abundant harvest and honors rituals as well as stories of ancient Maori warfare and peace. Tū Te Ihi (Winter Matariki Celebration) honors the energy and passion stirred by Matariki cluster, along with the promise they bring.

From your arrival in Te Pā Tū, you will be treated to seasonal kai horotai (delicacies). Taste authentic Maoru cuisine from roasted tuna (native eel) and creamy pāua (abalone) to ember warmed kumara and restorative kawakawa tea.
